By reading homeschool curriculum reviews, you can learn from the experiences of other homeschoolers before purchasing home school products. Here are some tips for finding reviews of popular homeschool programs.

Homeschool Reviews

Homeschool reviews are available online, in magazines, and in books by popular homeschool authors.

Some reviews are written by homeschoolers who have actually used the product when homeschooling. Others are written by reviewers who are simply describing a product they received from a publisher.

Reviews written by home educators who have actually used the product tend to be more helpful, and candid in terms of likes and dislikes. For that reason, I value those opinions over the ones given in home school books.

My favorite source of reviews is Successful Homeschooling's Homeschool Curriculum Reviews which is a comprehensive, well-organized collection of reviews from home school parents.

Many homeschool catalogs and online merchants feature detailed descriptions about their products. These descriptions will help determine whether or not the product is a good fit for your family and help you know what to expect when the product arrives in your home.

Sonlight: Sonlight is the publisher of a literature-based, homeschool curriculum. It's catalog features detailed book descriptions, as well as detailed reviews of several math, science, history, handwriting and art programs.
Timberdoodle: Timberdoodle is a family-owned business that provides a variety of products to homeschoolers. It's catalog contains detailed reviews of every product it sells.
Rainbow Resource: Rainbow Resource is a family-owned supplier of discount homeschool books. You can find detailed reviews of hundreds of products in it's free catalog, which is as thick as a phone book.
