Literature About Homeschoolers

The very first directory of books featuring homeschoolers.

We read and review any short-story, picture book, or novel that relates to homeschooling. The site gives parents and children the chance to find books that talk about situations they can relate to. The idea was inspired by some efforts on the homeschool online website.

I did research by consulting with homeschool moms discussion forums to see if there was real interest in a homeschool literature directory. I found that even customized homeschool language arts courses did not have any real substantative effort to include literature that included homeschoolers.

Here are eight of the authors who have written books featuring homeschoolers.

  • David Almond
  • - Michael was looking forward to his new house and neighborhood, until his infant sister became very ill. Now his parents are constantly frantic, the scary doctor is always coming around, and Michael feels helpless. When he goes out into the old rickety garage, he comes across a mysterious being living beneath spider webs and eating flies for dinner. This creature calls himself Skellig, and over the weeks Michael and his new friend Mina bring Skellig out in to the light, and their worlds change forever.
  • E. Nesbit
  • When their father is sent away to prison, three London children move to the country where they keep busy preventing accidents on the nearby railway, making many new friends, and generally learning a good deal about themselves.
