Books Used in our Homeschooling 2011/2012

I am choosing to do this school years homeschool journaling a little different here on squidoo.
In the past I've made several over the course of the school year, reporting each week what we accomplished.
Jasmine is in high school this year.

This year I am making this lens, which will highlight the books we use throughout the year. The public library is our good homeschooling friend.

Along the way I will be adding book review lenses on some of the books. I also have at least one separate lens planned for some of the books we are using right now.

This lens will be updated often throughout the school year.

I am still doing a journal type entry each week, but in my blog instead. I will have it linked within this lens, so hope you might check out my weekly posts there. I am linking them up with the Hip Homeschooling Mom blog.

Jasmine Drawing

Jasmine rec'd a Hobby Lobby gift card for her birthday. She chose chalk pastels, a drawing pad, drawing pencils and blending sticks for her purchases.

Guideposts

The first thing we do each day is read from Guideposts. Although we aren't using the current year, we do read the current date.

Home-Ec 101

I was able to review one chapter of this book. One chapter convinced me that I need to buy the book to use for Home-Ec with Jasmine. I'm 45 years old and have found lots of things in the book that even I didn't know. See below to see my review lens of this book as well.

This book may be geared towards the younger children, but we learned a lot from it. We made copies of several of the pages with lists and graphs. We really want a successful garden and this book put us well on the way to that goal.

I enjoyed reading your lens about home school books. I think those books are also great if you want to supplement a kids education during summer.

I don't have girls, but if I did I think I'd want to get them that Math Doesn't Such book. Don't know if I shared it with you yet, but I discovered a great set of math videos made by an artist/mathematician. My favorite one I have on my blog here: http://scribbleprints.blogspot.com/2011/02/where-art-meets-math.html

P.S. What is The Homeschool Club?

THE HOMESCHOOL CLUB is real parents and kids sharing their best resources for great homeschooling. Each day we celebrate learning by opening doors to a world of creativity, knowledge and discovery. In the car, at the kitchen sink, and down by the frog pond - the whole world is our classroom and we explore it with creative projects, games, and activities. This club is a place to share, organize, and discuss how and what we learn in the world. Make a free page to tell your own homeschooling story and share your favorite resources. We can't wait to hear from you!
