Home School Helpers

I am building this lens to help other homeschoolers and get to know other homeschoolers.

You will see one section where you can add your own homeschool website and another section where you can add great resource websites that you find.

I would also like to see some talk in the guest book on how your days are going with your homeschooling, exciting things you do, etc.

A little about myself and my family:
I have 4 childen, Johnathon, age 26, Elizabeth, age 23, Heather, age 17, and Jasmine, age 12.
I have 6 grandchildren, Tristian is age 7 and Cash is 10 months, both belong to my son Johnathon.
Allen Jr, age 7, Ariel age 4, Araya age 3, and Willo age 1 all belong to my daughter Elizabeth.

I started home schooling in 1998 with Johnathon. He was having migraines and missing a lot of school. When he was at school he wasn't doing well.
That blossomed to Heather and Elizabeth also wanting to be homeschooled. The rest is history as they say.
I currently have Jasmine in 6th grade and Heather in 12th grade.
I would love to homeschool most of my grandchildren but their father is saying no.

I believe the way we home school is called eclectic.
We have never used any type of full curriculum. I find our books and things at yard sales, at the library book sale, even in the recycle bin at the public school where I work.
We do our school work around me working and other busy schedule stuff, but we love it.

I have worked in the Headstart program as a lunch aide for 13 years. Heather and Jasmine both attended 2 years of Headstart. It's a great program and is a great head start in education.

I have not been invovled in home schooling, but I do think it's a wonderful idea. My brother is the "Head Chef" (a legend in his own mind) for the local head start program and he loves it. Serving the needs of children is the righ fit for his kind heart.

Thanks for the link referral link....I went and grabbed a banner for my store.

I seen your tweet @marsha32, and decided to stop by to wish you a great day. - I really did see a lot of benefits to home-schooling my two youngest children. For one it saved tons of money. They did get to attend public school here in Fargo for music and other interests that they persued.

We homeschooled our two sons start to finish. They're 26 and 23 now and turned out quite nicely, if I do say so myself! Don't ask me about them - get me started and it'll be hard to get me to stop! Homeschooling probably isn't for everyone, but if you feel led to homeschool, don't resist. It worked well for us and can work well for anyone who is willing to devote the effort.

There are more and more parents homeschooling their children these days. I'm currently homeschooling my son, and am amazed how quickly he learns. There are many of us on Squidoo who do the homeschooling thing, and the more sites like, this the better.
