Home Subwoofers

Are you looking for a better experience when watching your favorite movie at your home? You can maximize your home theater sound quality with subwoofers.

Home Theater Subwoofer Information

Many home owners are trying to get the same audio experience as the movie theaters. What makes a movie theater the ideal place for watching movies is the picture quality and the deep low surround sound. One way to improve your home theater experience is adding home subwoofers. Having a quality sub completes your home theater set up for maximum enjoyment and engagement. Home theatre subwoofers may seem to be rather strangely relegated to a .1 designation in surround sound packages.

There are 2 main types of home subwoofers:

Passive Subwoofers (stand alone subwoofers):
These types of home theater subwoofers need an external receiver or an amplifier to power it. Before buying an amp to power your sub, make sure that the amp is powerful enough to get the most out of your sub.

Powered Subwoofers:
If you are looking for a hassle free way to get a perfectly matched sub and amp, this type will be your best option.

What to look for when buying home theater subwoofers?
There are other features to look for in a home theater subwoofer such as the ability to produce sound downwards or from the front and sides of a mounted subwoofer. You can also choose a home theater subwoofer with an extra port that pushes out more air than a sealed case to increase the bass response. A necessary feature of a good home theater subwoofer is a crossover with a frequency of around 100 hertz, which channels all frequencies below the said frequency to the subwoofer.

Home subwoofers are considered to be a powerful addition to a great speaker package. Complete your home theater system with quality and power subs to enjoy watching movies.

Home Subwoofers Info

A "home theater in a box" (HTIB) is an integrated home theater package which "bundles" together a combination DVD player/ multi-channel amplifier (which includes a surround sound decoder, a radio tuner, and other features), speaker wires, connection cables, a remote control, a set of five or more surround sound speakers (or more rarely, just left and right speakers) and a low-frequency subwoofer.

They are manufactured by most makers of consumer electronics. At the lowest end of the price range are "2.1" units which include a combination DVD player/three channel amplifier with only the most basic features, a remote control, left and right speakers, and a small subwoofer speaker (under $100 US). Models in the middle price range include HTIBs made by RCA, Electrohome, Philips, Samsung, Panasonic and Sony (from $300 to $800 US). At the high end of the price range, Bose Lifestyle HTIB systems can cost over $3000 US.
