No Worries for the Homophonically Confused
Homographs are words that are spelled alike, but are pronounced differently, and have different meanings. For example: The violinist put down her bow and took a bow. Here, bow is pronounced differently each time, and has different meanings, but is spelled the same.
Then we have Homophones. They sound alike, but are spelled differently and have different meanings. For example: The baby deer stuffed animal was very dear to the little girl. Here we have deer [with antlers] and dear [isn't that just precious] which sound the same, but are spelled differently and have different meanings.
It's enough to drive you crazy!

So You Want to Teach Homophones to Little Kids?
Yew will bee glad ewe did

I actually wrote a book about Homophones.
As a matter of fact no, I don't have a life.
I assembled a few homophones, 1300+ of them actually. I'm sure I missed some [not sum].They come with 17 graphic organizers that you'll [not yule] need [not kneed or knead] to reproduce a lot of times [not thymes], but the variety will help keep it interesting, or at least [not leased] that is the theory. There [not they're or their] are organizers for 2, 3, and 4 word groups, but not [not knot] for 6 word groups, so you [not yew or ewe] can always use [not yews or ewes] two [not to or two] 3 word organizers or three 2 word organizers, or whatever. Doing one set per week [not weak] can keep your [not you're] child busy for years, and they are a great way [not weigh or whey] to prepare for spelling bees [not Bea's] or to build vocabulary.
And your [not you're] kids will thank you for [not four or fore] all [not awl] your hard work at making them smart. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
You can Buy Now or check out the Homophones Book Website, which I recently redesigned, so it's kind of cute.
As a bonus, this now comes with an additional 50 organizers you can print out and use for all kinds of school subjects. Same great [not grate] price, only $6.95. Such a bargain! Instant download. Instant gratification.
