Make Money Online - Honesty is Clearly Not the Policy in this Business is it?

I'll be 50 in a couple of months and due to family issues had to change my career. My partner and I used our savings to buy a small country pub in a village in Yorkshire, England. The place was bringing in a small income but was run down and needed refurbishment which has kept us both occupied - we were both happy with this. Then the world changed and the recession hit - village residents stopped spending and the business started to suffer. Some days and evening we were lucky if we had three customers and it would take a birthday party or special event to make money. We started to feel the affects of the recession and we decided that one of us needed to get a job to supplement our income. We tried that for awhile doing contract and freelance work but a pub needs two people or paid staff to keep it going so something had to give. We looked at a number of options but most took money we didn't have.

It's surprising what you hear when you're serving a pint. Two of the customers were talking about how he had used his passion for golf and put together an online business and it sounded so easy. I continued to listen unnoticed and heard enough to wet my appetite.

When the customer came in again I started the conversation up about the internet and I must say I learnt a lot. He was very pleased to tell me a whole range of things which then helped me to go onto Google and start my own search.

I'm naturally a cautious person and I don't like spending money I haven't got and therefore tread carefully until I know what's what. I started researching and was amazed by what I found.

Gobbledygook is the word I'm going to use because that's what most of the information has been. I was an internet novice and trying to find my way through all the information on the internet I was astonished at how many ways there were to make money online and how many of these were pure scams.

It appears to me that if you use enough jargon and repeat it as many times as you can in your opening pages that you can get people to read right to the bottom until they get to the punch line - the price. I really hate the fact that you have to read right to the bottom to understand what they are saying and what its likely to cost you. Why don't they put a clear statement at the beginning and the price?

If you're a beginner where do you start and how do you get a really honest opinion on what works and what doesn't? They all say you can make millions or most of them $4000 + per week (link)- well can you? Yes you can I've done it and several times.

The internet is the future they kept telling me. Yes I know that but if you were brought up in an age where business was done through telephone, letter, fax and conversation then the internet is a scary place. Technology is moving so fast that it's hard to keep up with it. Web 2.0 technology which I've just started to learn about is all new to me. I've been on an incredible educational journey and over the past few months I've learn so much getting to this point.

I now know that there is now orginality in what's available, very little understandable information for the beginner and that when you get through all of the nonsense that there are some basic things you need to know and can apply to start to make money online. These include:

a good product (niche) which people want to buy (keyword research)
a way of advertising the product (website, blog or lense)
a way of promoting the product which makes people want to buy it (search engine optimisation, traffic, articles and press release).

All these equal make basic money online. If you want to make millions you have to replicate these several times and keep on doing it.

No wonder you can't find the advice you need. I discovered that earning money online is all about duplication -there is no originality or uniqueness. The big guns sell to the little guns who do most of the work to make them even more money. Therefore everything you looked at, looks the same. The scripts are duplicated and the products. I've learnt that you can buy the resell rights on some products and sell them but the content still belongs to the big guns.
