Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce & Salad Dressing

Dual Purpose Recipe for Honey Mustard

What could be more perfect? This is one recipe that will go from a dipping sauce to a salad dressing in one simple step! There are many variations on this recipe. I have even had it in one restaurant made with bacon grease. That was yummy!

I like this three ingredient honey mustard dipping sauce because it is a fast and easy dipping sauce. Add one more ingredient and you have a salad dressing. I personally love it on baked or fried breaded chicken tenders, but it can be used to dip french fries, vegetables and spread on a sandwich. It is sweet and tangy and sends a taste explosion to your taste buds!

Condiment Bowls

Condiment bowls are great for dipping sauces. They help prevent the dreaded double dipping. Everyone has their own dipping sauce and can double dip to their heart's content. They can also use their fingers to clean out the bowl or just lick the inside of the bowl.

I of course would never do such a thing, but I am sure there are some of you out there that would. O.K. my fingers were crossed and covered in honey mustard dipping sauce, but don't tell anyone!

Variation

You can use "Light Mayonnaise" if you desire, but reduce the honey to one tablespoon and taste the sauce. Add honey up to the 3 tablespoons until you are happy with the taste. Light mayonnaise has more sugar than regular mayonnaise, so you may need less honey.

Organic Honey

The purest honey is always the best

Organic honey can only be called such if its production follows a set of strict guidelines. Those guidelines have to be followed through from the foraging area, the nectar the bees collect to the actual packaging of the product. The result is a superior tasting honey that has been produced by nature's laws and not man's chemical intervention.

Which is Better?

Do you think organic or conventional meat and produce is better?

Organic of course!

eclecticeducation says:

I definitely prefer organic when I can find it and afford it.

Conventional of course!

Mixing Bowls

A good one will last years

I am serious about my mixing bowls. I have one favorite that has high sides and is perfect for mixtures that are messy. Then I have one that is wide with low sides and has a ring on the side to insert your finger. It is best for thick mixtures that you need a good grip to keep it from slinging across the kitchen. Find your favorites below!

Salad Dressing Storage Bottles

I make a double batch of honey mustard salad dressing and keep it on hand. Just keep it refrigerated in one of these handy salad dressing storage bottles.

Suggestion

Make the dipping sauce or salad dressing 24 hours ahead. Seal it in an air tight container and keep it in the refrigerator. The flavors have time to really meld together and it is much more flavorful.

Whisk

A good one is hard to find

I love a whisk as far as it making stirring a mixture much easier, but I do not like the fact that they can rust if you buy the wrong one. Make sure you dry it off when it comes out of the dish washer. Don't let it air dry.

Measuring Cups

You can never have too many

I have decided that there is a measuring cup thief that comes in my home periodically and steals some of my measuring cups. They always seem to disapear! Silliness aside, no recipe will work if the ingredients are not measured properly. Make sure you have a good measuring cup that gives you the proper measurements.

Yes, lizziehumphreys you can and it is so easy! I searched for such a long time to find the restaurant style honey mustard. I don't care for the kind that has dijon mustard in it. I was so excited when I found this recipe. It was close, but I had to tweak it. Now, it is perfect!
