IN MEMORY OF GRANDPA
He survived the landing on Omaha beach and performed his duties with honor. He came home shattered and broken but overcame the horrors of war to become an example of strength and dignity to all who knew him.
THE PASSING OF A SOLDIER
REMEMBERING GRANDPA
He stood behind the hatch of his higgins landing craft, bullets thumping on the hatch as if the grim reaper himself were knocking. He couldn't have imagined what carnage lie on the other side of that hatch but that reality was soon to be revealed. As the hatch fell so fell many comrades right at his feet as he struggled to find a place of refuge. There wasn't any time to think, no time to fear but fear was his driving force as he wittnessed the blood red beaches of Omaha. Damn the enemy! Damn them! he must have thought as he went from one cover to the next even using the bodies of brethren to shield him from certain death.
Somehow though, he made it, but not with out a price. Once home he would have nightmares screaming out in the night BLOOD AND MUD THERE IS BLOOD IN THE MUD, terrifying the family as they would rush to his side to comfort him.
The war raged on for years in his mind but he found final refuge in God. Grandpa began to teach sunday school and could be found at the altar of his church every sunday until one day the war in his memory was over and he would finally be able to live in peace until the day came for him to leave the world, the world that had brought to him a hardship that no man should ever have to endure.
Grandpa got his final marching orders from the supreme commander relieving him of his duties here on earth, and he passed on to the halls of glory to be honored for eternity. There he sits with God and all of those who have gone on before him leaving us with his memory and example of strength, courage and dedication to God Family and country.
At his funeral, as the family gathered under the tent in front of the casket covered with the flag of his country which he loved so dearly, we all reflected on his life.Pride swelled up in my heart but the tears were contained I wanted to be strong like him.
That strength waned though as a group of war veterans walked up to the casket dressed in their uniforms and carrying their rifles, one by one they they stood behind the casket and paid their respect. It was what happened next that brought it all home.
His comrades gently reached down and folded the flag once, from end to end. With one soldier at each corner they marched out from under the tent and stood in the sunlight holding that beautiful flag at an angle facing the family and then taps was sounded.
Taps, that haunting tune played in respect for all who gave their lives for our freedom and at that very moment his comrades in one movement SNAPPED!! That flag open and for a fleeting moment Granpa was alive! He was alive in the flag as the sun reflected off the brilliant colors of Red, White and blue. There he was, in that flag with all of our honored war veterans and the founding fathers bidding us farewell and FREEDOM.
Today when I see old glory flying I remember Grandpa, I remember the sacrifice he made to keep that flag flying and I vow to always protect that flag to always respect it because it is not just a flag it is the memory of many brave men and women who gave it all so that we could have our liberty. GOD BLESS GRANPA AND GOD BLESS AMERICA.
HONOR OUR FALLEN HEROS
lET US NEVER FORGET THE SACRIFICE THAT OTHERS HAVE MADE FOR OUR FREEDOM
Our troops are fighting and the enemy is on the run.
We owe it to them to watch their backs here at home.
Our enemies are realizing that they have picked a fight that they can't win. Our military has effectively defeated their efforts to take over Iraq and Afghanistan.
So what do they do? They put on womens clothes to hide their identity. They go into tribes and weak governments and pick on people who cannot protect themselves. They strap bombs on children and use the innocent to carry out their work because they are cowards.
They do all of these things and call it victory at the same time blame the United states and coalition forces for the trouble. The sad part is that many in our country believe their story, calling us the bad guys even some congressmen and senators are portraying our soldiers as the villans.
We owe it to the troops to watch their backs while they are answering their call to duty. Show your support for them even if you do not agree with the war. Let's stand up and fight for our troops. Don't allow "ANYONE" to to speak ill against our troops. Even if it is an elected official write or e-mail them and tell them to "knock it off" these are our friends and brethren over there and they deserve our respect.

Words can't describe the pride I have in you.
Every day I see Old Glory, that flag that represents what I believe in so passionately, freedom, peace and safety. I see that flag and remember Grandpa and the tribulations that he endured. But then I see that flag and and remember YOU! MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN HARMS WAY. I go about my day knowing and sometimes taking for granted the blessings God has given me and the protection that your efforts have provided me and I am ashamed that for even one minute I have forgotten to thank you all. My love and prayers now go out to you my friends,my brethren, my hero's.
Oh God, Supreme and just, I call on you today to rest your mighty hand on my brethren. Keep them safe and those whom they defend from tyranny and terror, from those who kill and torture in your name. Bring justice to their blasphemy and peace to their victims. Watch over our troops and the innocent people that they defend and bring victory and glory to thy name. AMEN
Hearts and minds, The political assault
Alqieda and the Taliban exploited carnage most of which was created by their own hands to present to the media knowing full well that they could create divisions in the public view. It is time to turn the tide on their efforts. The fear tactics of the terrorists has now turned on them as the locals have grown tired of the fear and violence. They have began to cooperate with coalition troops leading to the ousting of insurgent cells that were torturing innocent civilians and even children.
In a letter to the Mark Levin radio show, a soldier wrote that in the beginning his greatest fear was Ied's now ,it is not having enough candy to give to the children.
We are winning this war and our troops need our help to end it. Could it be that the greatest weapon in their arsenal is a bag of candy.
Be a part of the victory.
Sometimes all a Soldier needs is to know that somebody cares about them.
It gets lonely out there. A soldier sometimes finds themselves in a strange land where people hate them or simply don't trust them. Now Imagine the soldier that is in Irac or Afghanistan right now, watching the news on tv and hearing the crap that is spewed out on a daily basis. What must he or she be thinking? How is all of this hate and bickering effecting them. Let's put a stop to this madness, Be a part of the victory, show your support for our troops by writing letters, posting blogs and honoring the living and the fallen. Starting right here! If you have a lovedone or a friend who is serving overseas or gave their life for the cause of freedom post their picture and tell us about this extraordinary person and we will honor them every day. God bless our troops and their families.
