Cleaning: Hoses

Ok, rule number one, DO NOT USE WATER in a traditional hookah hose. A lot of places on the internet say to do this and they are wrong. You can easily ruin it by rusting or rotting the inside depending on the material.

Now, there are "washable" hookah hoses. To my knowledge, Mya hoses are all "washable" however, that means you have to dry them almost immediately to avoid mildew or rusting in some cases.

Personally, I stick to just blowing out the hose, putting my finger at the end so I know when I don't have any more ash coming out. For quality smoking you are just going to have to replace teh hoses every so often.

Another helpful tip: use different hoses for different families of tobacco.

For instance: I have one hose for mint and mint dominant flavored tobacco.

I have one for all my tropical fruit flavors and fruit blends, and I have one for cola and other flavors.

This can increase the longevity by avoiding the problem of "sticky" flavors. I have always had a problem with mint becoming such a dominant flavor that all my smoking tastes like mint until I change the hose.
