Jack: Handsome, heroic, intense, and yet caring who wouldn't fall in love with him. I think both Kate and Juliet love Jack.

Just a review on Jacks life before the airplane crashed
He was a spinal surgeon at the same hospital with his father, Christian, also a doctor
He operated on a woman, Sarah, whose broken back was supposedly irreparable, he was successful
He then married Sarah, who later left him because he was a workaholic
He made the hard decision to report his alcoholic father to the hospital board after a patient died who his father was doing surgery on, he believed it was the alcohol that caused the death.
He went to Australia to find his missing father only to discover he'd drank himself to death, he was trying to bring his fathers body back for burial on the flight that crashed.

Once rescued and back home, he was known as part of the "Oceanic 6". He began living with Kate and young Aaron. He eventually proposed to her, but things did not work out for them. He began working with Ben, he then became obsessed with reuniting the Oceanic 6 to return to the island.

He then returns go the island on a flight with the rest of the Oceanic 6, a time flash sends him to the island in the '70s, where he becomes a member of Dharma as a workman.

Kate: Such a strong, yet vunerable woman. After killing the man that was abusing her mother to protect her, she became hardened on the outside, but still has that soft heart within.

What do we know about Kate's life before the crash?

She killed her real father, who was very abusive to her and her mother
She lives with the guilt because she caused the death of her childhood boyfriend, Tom, because she was resisting arrest
She was a wanted by the police and fleeing for several years
Her crimes were armed robbery, assault, resisting arrest
She was being extradited back to stand trial when the plane crashed

On the Island, she became a good person, in love with two men both Sawyer and Jack, helping Jack to save lives.

She like Jack was rescued from the island as part of the Oceanic 6 and posed as Aaron's mother. Aaron was actually Claire's son who was born on the island. She developed a very strong bond with Aaron, but ended up leaving him with Claire's mother before she returned to the Island.

She like Jack returned to the Island in a time flash which sends her to the island in the '70s, where she becomes a member of Dharma working for the motor pool.

Sawyer: Gotta love Sawyer, he tells it as it is even if you don't want to hear it. Those piercing eyes, paired with killer dimples, definately a lady killer that one!

What do we know about Sawyers past?
He was really James Ford.whose whole existance changed when he watched parents die in murder/suicide after being swindled out of their life savings by a con man named "Sawyer"
He grew up and became a con man himself and guess what name he called himself by? "Sawyer"
He once fell in love with Cassidy, who actually outconned him
He was thrown out of Australia for head-butting the Minister of Agriculture

ON THE ISLAND:

He continues to con people, trading in goods he has stashed. He soon falls in love with "freckles" as he calls Kate.
He jumps from the helicopter to save Kate, it wouldn't have made it with his extra weight.
He swam back to the island. The time flashes eventually take him to the '70s, where he settles down with Juliet as Dharma employees. To everyone in Dharma, he is known as Jim LaFleur, the head of security.

Locke: What a unique man, very intrigueing. They keep us guessing about Locke, is he strong, is he weak. Good or bad. We like him one minute and question that the next. Mysterious Man is he!

BEFORE THE CRASH:
He is a supervisor for a box company
He loves to play war and strategy games and is very good at them
He was raised in a foster home
He later found his ailing biological father who conned him out of a kidney then cruelly cut him off again
Before the crash he was in wheelchair for 4 years

On the Island: He was no longer crippled. He could walk and became a leader and explorer. He became very mysterious, is his character good, or bad?

He was able to escape the island by turning the frozen donkey wheel. With the help of Widmore, Locke attempted to reunite the Oceanic 6 to get them to return to the island before being murdered by Ben. Before he was murdered he was depressed that he had failed to reunite them all and contemplating suicide.

Locke's body is taken aboard Ajira Airways Flight 316. On the island, he, awakens in the present.

Hugo: Everyone has to love Hugo don't they. With a run of bad luck, imaginary friends. He has a way of stumbling across things. A gentle character, and so very likable. Everyone loves Hurley!

Before the Island
Huley won a lotter of $156 million lottery with numbers he got from patient in a mental institution that repeated the numbers over and over again: 4 8 15 16 23 42
He then began to have very bad luck; his grandfather died, his new house burned, his mom broke her foot
He actually purchased the same box company that Locke worked at with his lottery winnings
He traced those same numbers to another unlucky man in Australia

On the island his luck changed. He made friends, but was still haunted with visions.

He was also rescued as part of the Oceanic 6, but was checked back into a mental hospital after seeing visions of his deceased friend Charlie who died trying to save them all.

He again returns to the Island with the others of the Oceanic 6 on Ajira Airways Flight 316, a time flash sends him to the island in the '70s, where he becomes a member of Dharma working in the cafeteria.

Desmond: Right in the middle of it all, Desmond seems to be a real link to the answers we all are seeking as we watch week to week, season to season. Dashing and caring is he!

Before the crash
He was a Lance Corporal in the Royal Scots Regiment of the British Army
He is in love with Charles Widmore's daughter, Penny
He enters a sailboat race to prove himself to Charles Widmore and win Penny back in which he lands stranded Desmond on the island from an accident on that sailboat
He does not enter the code in time and unknowingly caused the crash of Oceanic flight 815

He then, on the island, joins the survivors' camp and begins seeing visions of the future, including the death of Charlie.

Desmond reunites with his beloved Penny when her boat rescues him, Frank Lapidus and the Oceanic 6. He refuses to leave Penny's side, even when Jack tries to convince him and the Oceanic 6 to return to the island. The next day, Ben shoots him, but Desmond survives and maintains his promise to never leave Penny.

Ben: Pure evil, I don't trust him one little bit. Gotta watch him. Which makes me worry about Locke, is he out of his mind letting Ben run free? Does everyone else sometimes want to see that good inside of Ben, is there a little bit there? Maybe his love for his daughter!

Who is Ben Linus?

He is the leader of the Others
He grew up in the Dharma barracks, his own father was abusive
As a child, was shot by a time-traveling Sayid
His life was saved when Richard Alpert agreed to take him into the island temple

He gets off the Island and with Sayid, Ben has Widmore's key people assassinated. He then convinces Jack to reunite the Oceanic 6.

He murders John Locke.

He too is on the plane that returns to the island and as a crash survivor of Ajira Airways Flight 316 in the present time. During his return, he is judged by the smoke monster. When he finally meets Jacob, Ben feels his longtime devotion to him has been forsaken and he murders Jacob.

Sayid: What a strong intelligent Man, that just seems to want to find a woman to love, but keeps falling into killing people or torturing them instead. I think we all want to see Sayid find happiness in the end.

Sayid is a communications Officer for Iraqi Republican Guard in the first Gulf War
He tortures and interrogates prisoners for the Iraqi government
He helps his childhood love Nadia escape prison
He is recruited by US and Australian agents to infiltrate a terrorist cell which included his best friend from college
He was hurrying to LA to reunite with Nadia, his love

He falls in love Rescued from the island as part of the Oceanic 6 and married Nadia. After a car hits and kills Nadia, Ben confides in Sayid that Widmore was responsible for her death. Sayid then becomes an assassin working under Ben to eliminate key members of Widmore's organization.

Sayid is captured by a bounty hunter and is forced to fly aboard Ajira Airways Flight 316. A time flash sends him to the island in the '70s, where he becomes a captive of Dharma.

He shoots a young Ben at that time and escapes.

Sweet, mother Claire. I think we all are wondering what happens to Claire and why her son is with Kate!

Claire has a child on the Island, Aaron. Aaron is kidnapped and returned by Claire disappears in the middle of the night. Claire is shown later in the cabin with Jacob. Returns to tell Kate not to take Aaron back to the island.

We find out later that Claire is Jack's fathers daughter and that she is Jack's half sister.

Jin-Soo love for Sun is strong.

Jin is a fisherman's son who courted Sun in secret but insisted on asking her wealthy father for permission to marry
He worked for her father as an enforcer after their wedding

We thought he died in the freighter explosion, but he was actually rescued by a young Danielle Rousseau (the french woman) and her science team.

Sun was born into wealth but fell in love and married a fishermans son, Jin Soo
She became unhappy and secretly learned English so she could escape her unhappy marriage
At the last minute, she decided to stay with her husband and boarded flight 815
She was caught by her father in bed with Jae Lee

Rescued from the island as part of the Oceanic 6 and blames Ben for the assumed death of Jin.

He talks her into coming back to the island by showing her Jin's ring, which was given to Locke with a message.

She crashes in the present time on the Island.

Jack's other love. Seemingly a woman of character, with mysteries within.

Juliet is a fertility doctor
She is hired to help the women on the island whose babies die, and lives amongst the Others
She wants to return to the mainland to see her dying sister

Juliet betrays Ben and joined the survivors' camp, where she competed with Kate for the affection of Jack and Sawyer.

After the Island is moved and the others escape, she settles down in the '70s with Sawyer, who became known as Jim LaFleur, in the Dharma barracks before ultimately detonating Jughead, the hydrogen bomb.
