It is hard to imagine a group more deserving of something nice than these children.
The Hope for Henry Foundation was started in the memory of Henry Strongin Goldberg, who died at age 7 after a lifelong battle with a devastating genetic disease, Fanconi anemia. Henry's parents were able to make Henry's life special and are determined to do the same for other kids spending too much time in hospitals and fighting illness.

My Superhero is...
Laurie chose these gifts because she knew from experience how much they relieve the boredom and ease the pain of treatments and procedures. Each gift is personal and portable so the kids can have them in the hospital and take them home as they get better.
Kids undergoing transplants or chemotherapy often cannot have birthday parties or go to public places like movies or amusement parks. So Laurie and Hope for Henry sponsor special events in the hospital, like personalized birthday parties, Halloween parties, summer carnivals and game nights.
What I've learned from this person
She knows that getting great medical care is just half the equation. Getting better means someone - and not always the parents who are tired or the healthcare professionals who are busy - is focused on a sick child's quality of life.
A good attitude goes a long way toward imbuing a child with hope and aids in their recovery from serious illness.
My favorite quote or saying from this person...
Henry was the kid who ? as a friend remarked - "had a smile too big for his face."

This is a great way to change very distressed lives - and Laurie is a hero. Have you heard of Penny Arcade - a web comic? They have an annual gift drive raising money for sick children - based around selling PSP's and DVD's. Perhaps the two activities could converge wonderfully.
