Hopefully going to New York
Ranked #37,744 in Business & Work, #511,365 overall
Hi guys and Seth
What do you do now?
Freemium consulting
My main project is a consultancy based on the freemium business model, that I have just started. I have a blog, where I give away tools and give insight into this business model. I use the blog as a compliment to consulting with companies on how they can boost their business by applying the Freemium-model.
Start10
The other project I am busy with is Start10. The concept, is basically for me to start 10 small business ventures within a year.
Besides the freemium business I have another one that is already up and doing well. It is a booking agency for laughter instructors. It is set up so I only answer the phone and make a few phone calls for each booking. I am currently outsourcing this task, so it will require a minimum of work.
It is the intention that most of the 10 ventures should work in this way, where it will require a minimum of work after initiation. At the moment I am developing a booking agency for self employed medical massage therapists, a share office space, a danish audio book site and a network of student consultants. Because of the progress with these, I and am confident, that I will reach 10 by October 2009.
It might be a bit unfortunate, but most of my web presence is in Danish.
Why do you do it?

Freemium consulting
In my freemium business I am trying to land a client that helps entrepreneurs in a very intuitive manner. They have a lot of material, like worksheets, that have helped me in developing ideas. They would be great for people in the developing world and there has been a demand for their products. If i could help them build a way of making more money, while making their material openly available, this could help families support better for their families and and help local economy.
This is the kind of change I want to create and the main reason I am working with the freemium project
Start10
The reason for Start10 is different. I want to push myself into becoming better at doing. Starting 10 smaller ventures within a year and having this as my sole income, pushes me to get moving. I am confident this year will give me very valuable experiences in entrepreneurship and concept design.
What are you hoping to learn ?

Launching my freemium project, I have been talking with potential costumers and collaboration partners. During this time It has been a bit difficult for me to sell the idea. I believe that this is not do to the idea itself, but rather my way opf selling it. This has made me want to get better at "selling" an idea.
With this alternative MBA, I am hoping to learn about framing and launching ideas in a powerful way. I like the way Seth structures his ideas and sells them to the audience. If I get to be part of the program , i hope that i can learn a lot about this from him and the experiences in the program.
After you learn it, what are you going to do with it?
After having helped this business through the first couple of years, I am going to move on to other interesting projects.
One of the things that I would love to do, is to start a version of ebay that works for the whole world. By including an innovative logistics system, this could create possibilities for the third world to access the western markets. Thus giving them a chance help themselves out of poverty
Tell me a true story about making a change in the world.

With the danger of sounding like a bad slogan, I will say that I have been disillusioned with making a change, I want to create change.
In order to make change I have been chairman of the local branch of a political party, I have been active in organising a campaign against climate change and have been part of numerous charity fundraisers. On some level it leaves me feeling a bit powerless.
I want to create ideas and concepts that can change the structures.
One experience that illustrates what to do is a project we did with the kaospilots. In Vancouver we worked with a local credit union on their micro finance program. Even though micro credit has been a huge success in the third world, it has only had little success in north America. We talked to the program users of the micro credit program and connected with similar programs across North America. Our findings and suggestions helped improve the micro finance program to better helping people, help them self.
Have you overcome a Dip?
a photo from the place I worked

When I was 19, I moved to Paris and started working as an apprentice chef. I had been fascinated by french culture and the part that food played.
This move started several things, that I had never done before: Working full time, speaking french, living in a city were i knew none, working in a new trade.
This mixture was overwhelming and an emotionally trying. - A Dip. But I didn't quit, I carried on and it ended up being a great experience.
This experience gave me confidence that I can handle a lot of new and ambiguous things. I also believe that going on where i probably should have stooped has made it easier to stop at the right time in later.
What astonishing thing did you do before you did what you do now
This summer I graduated from the Kaospilots International - An independent and alternative business school in Denmark. The school is very action based and during the program we worked with different real clients. Among other things, we did a re-branding strategy for a Swedish publishing house and a redesign of a micro fiance program in Vancouver. As a part of learning to facilitate processes, I designed and facilitated a vision seminar for the board and department heads from a local technical college.
Check out this 2-minute introduction of the education - Created by our sister school in the Netherlands:
The school might be worth a look for those applying to the alternative MBA
Make a wish

I wish that I succeed in continue with building a career where I am surrounded by engaged people with whom I can have fun, dream and create a different world
I hope that I get a chance to talk more about wishes and dreams with the rest of you guys.
What else should I know ?

I have never been to New York, so I really hope you invite me for the interview. If nothing else, I will have an excuse to see the city.
Books I am loving right now

- Froberg - your story is very interesting. Congratulations on doing this application. If you haven't submitted it yet, hurry up! Time is running out. Start10 sounds super ambitious. I'm sure Seth's program could help you get closer to that vision. Me, I don't think I could handle Start10. I'd probably be a Start1 kind of guy. It's a great challenge just building one company. Kudos to you and good luck!
