Join HopeRevo - the Hope Revolution

Is there anything more necessary in life than hope? As long as one holds on to hope, there is a way to make it through the trials, heartaches, and challenges that are a normal part of living.

Just this week I discovered a movement of hope called HopeRevo. The name stands for Hope Revolution. Its mission, as you might imagine, is all about spreading hope.

I started today. It's simple, but oh what a difference we can make. Here are some simple ways to be a part of the Hope Revolution.

When the world says, "Give up,"
Hope whispers, "Try it one more time..."

The Genesis of HopeRevo

It seems all important movements begin with one inspired individual. In this case, the founder of HopeRevo was Krystyn. One day she found a hateful note that had been left in a coffee shop. In a simple but powerful act, Krystyn decided to replace the hate with hope. She wrote a positive note to replace the ugly one.

You can read more about how that single act of inspiration led others to join the Hope Revolution. Check out the links section near the end of this article.

Hope lights the way.

Synchronicity Happens

Synchronicity happens, and when it does, oh the wonder and delight! As I discovered HopeRevo this week, while searching for something totally unrelated, I just so happened to be finishing the book Same Kind Of Different As Me. On the surface, it would seem the two events have nothing in common.

Ah, but here is the amazing intersection: The hateful note that Krystyn found — the one that inspired her to launch HopeRevo — was a spiteful note about the homeless and those who help them.

Guess what Same Kind Of Different As Me is about. Yes... how one woman's unconditional love brought hope and transformation to the homeless (and to those who love them). Chance? I think not.

I was moved to tears by the actions of Deborah Hall — the woman who made all the difference in the world by spreading hope where she lived. My first act as the newest member of the Hope Revolution is being done as a tribute to Debbie Hall and Denver Moore.

Why Hope Is The Best Gift

What difference does hope make? I found the answer to that question in this true story of the redeeming power of love.

When Debbie Hall offered to volunteer at a homeless shelter in Ft. Worth, Texas, nobody could have predicted the depth to which lives would be changed. In looking past the rough exterior of the homeless Denver Moore, and loving him in a way he had never experienced before, Debbie Hall became an instrument of transformation. Hope, faith, and compassion took what was damaged and brought about healing and the opportunity for new beginnings.

I highly recommend this inspirational story that powerfully illustrates how, below the surface, we are all the same kind of different.

Random Acts of Kindness

How do you begin? Just think of something you would like to hear someone say to you on a day when you might be feeling a little discouraged. In fact, it could be something that would make you happy on any day, even when you're not feeling down. I started the list below as I was thinking about the types of messages that have made me feel good.

Potential Affirmations

I have been brainstorming messages for the notes I am creating as a part of HopeRevo.
  • 1You are loved.
  • 2You are amazing!
  • 3You are beautiful.
  • 4I believe in you.
  • 5Your life matters.
  • 6I'm glad you are in my world.
  • 7You are a gift.
  • 8You are a blessing.
  • 9You make a difference.
  • 10I appreciate you!

Please Add An Affirmation

I would love it if you would add an affirmation here. What message would make you feel hopeful? What would you want someone to say to you if you were needing a little encouragement?

We've made several "Hope For Sale" signs, I originally saw someone post on fb, and put them in our apartment lobby bulletin board. The first part of the sign says, "take what you need and then pay it forward" and then words like 'hope' 'trust' 'love' 'kindness' 'beauty' are put onto little tear off stubs for the hope seekers to tear off and give away.
There's a homeless man who panhandles down the street from us, he has a regular corner. He shaves and he dresses nicely for work. he asks for any sort of assistance - work for food, whatever, and does it with cheer. He is always smiling and people stop to chat with him. We ask him how business is, talk to him about the weather. sometimes if we have it we give him some money or a cheeseburger - nothing hard because he can't chew with his poor teeth. He gave us a bag of orchard apples one day, because he couldn't chew them, but didn't want to turn them down. I can't tell you how much joy I felt in his sharing, because he felt it. Anyway.. I could go on. Joy is easy to share, and it's wonderful to behold it's happy contagion.

Where To Leave Messages Of Hope

Now that you have come up with some wonderful affirmations, what next?

The easiest way to share your hope messages is with Post-It notes. It takes just seconds to write out a beautiful note and to stick it someplace where it will be seen. When you're out shopping, stick one on the driver's side window of the car parked next to you. Stick one on the pump at the gas station. Stick one on your neighbor's mailbox. Stick one in the shopping cart basket. Stick a note in the library book you are returning.

There are a million places to leave hope. Unleash your creativity and compassion.

Perfect For Spreading Hope

Post-it Notes work great for leaving your HopeRevo messages. I keep some with me so I am always prepared when an opportunity to spread hope presents itself. You can prepare these ahead of time in order to leave a quick note.

* Post-It Notes are nice because you aren't defacing public or private property. They are easily removed without leaving any damage and they will stick nearly anywhere.

Hope can work miracles.

Host a Hope Party

Why not host a hope party? Provide supplies for making hope cards and notes. All you need are some index cards, Post-It Notes, paper, ribbon, rubber stamps, ink pads, markers, crayons, glue, charms, etc.

Have everyone make several notes and then, going out in pairs or small groups, disperse hope all throughout your neighborhood. When all of the notes have been delivered, your party-goers can return for refreshments and optional sharing about how they chose to spread hope.

This is also a great family or youth group activity. Think of the positive message this sends to children or youth as they participate in giving the gift of themselves.

What do you think about hope? Has someone, either known or unknown,

I wanted to come back and say "Thanks Pal" for the quest , which I may say I almost forgot about, but knew who it would be, and that is "you". Thank you for encouraging and motivating me to keep going on Squidoo. There were times I didn't feel good enough to be here, or just felt overwhelmed and found it to much with the rest of my life, but you always knew and do know how to say just the right thing. You are a blessing :) Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Hope is a beautiful and powerful gift that each of us can offer. It does not cost a thing except for generosity of spirit.
