Jaws was a "high concept" film which become one of the highest grossing summer movie of all time.In fact Steven Spielberg's financial success in movies started from this highly popular horror movie. The film was based On Peter Benchley's novel of same name.Jaws Centers around a fictional Amity island in New England which is being haunted by a Great white shark. The concept of using a Great white shark as main villain in horror movie was fresh yet risky.A Mechanical shark (Bruce) was designed but it was hard for Spielberg's team to film scenes while working in the cold and corrosive environment of north Atlantic sea. Most of the scenes were filmed from shark's Point of view and that's what bring horror,as the audience were not able to see the shark but still can feel the fear among them. Thanks to Spielberg's imagination and skills that even under odd conditions he was able to make such a brilliant horror movie.

John Carpenter's Halloween is considered as an iconic slasher movie. But its not just a SLASHER movie.Halloween uses elements of psychological horror too and that's what make it much more better than graphic-gore violent movies.
The film starts with the back-story of Michael Myers where a 6 year old Michael kills his sister. From their on audience become aware that they are being introduced to an almost unstoppable, fearless and immortal demon who is feeding inside the body of a man.
Michael is not just another psychopath but a monster whose only motive is to kill people around him.John carpenter worked a lot on this character. To make the appearance of Michael more horrifying he used Hockey mask which was later imitated by many other slasher killers(most famous being "Jason" of "Friday The 13th" series).
Director :- John Carpenter
Star-Cast :- Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis and Tony Moran
Plot :- A Psychopath breaking the hospital security returns to his home on halloween and is determined to kill the neighborhood.
# 4. The Ring 1,2
Before You Die,You See The Ring
Description :-
The Ring brought a new concept horror in movies. It was a blend of psychological horror with supernatural horror. The film was remake of Japanese horror movie Ringoo. Both the films were based on Kôji Suzuki's Novel Ring.
The plot revolves around a cursed video tape which if watched, could become the reason for the death of person within a week.Verbinski's touch and Naomi watts' acting and above all the cursed video tape added to the genuine horror of the movie.Original movie was hugely successful and led to a sequel which got mixed review.A third Sequel "The Ring 3D" is being planned.

jUrkY says:
Ghostly, but only if done right. Slashers are lame.
ZodiacImmortal says:
I think the Ghostly if done right will give you chills & maybe even some spills. as for the Slasher, Nightmare on elm st. (originals) will always be the coolest to me. Tho' they are somewhat a thing of the past and were really never scary to me! an Episode of Ghost Adventures gives me more chills th (& laughs) than those.
Phillyfreeze69 says:
Ghostly for me...I like the plot, the set and suspense is what keeps me on the edge of my seat.
Fitness2go says:
I think "The Shining" should be rated higher.
