Sometimes, it is fun to be scared
I really only watch horror movies around Halloween. It is the only time of the year where I feel like I need a good scare.
So, I tried to make a list of some of my favorite Halloween movies. You can vote on your favorites or add those you think should be on the list.
Also, there are a couple of full-length movies to watch for free - Nosferatu (silent classic) and Night of the Living Dead.
Have Fun!
What Makes a Good Horror Movie?
- It must be suspenseful.
- If there is gore it needs to not be over the top to compensate for a crummy storyline. It needs to make sense in the context of the movie - like the shower scene in Psycho.
- The bad guy needs to be easy to root against. Don't be wishy washy with your antagonist.
- The story. The story. The story. Make the viewer feel compelled to watch because of the quality of the story.
- Unhappy endings are a plus. In most horror movies the bad guy is eventually vanquished. However the trail of dead folks he leaves behind keeps everyone from thinking there is a happy ending.

Great lens, I love to be scared too, old school. "Halloween" is still the best! Posted September 29, 2008 |
