Grab some popcorn, sit back and reminisce on all of the movies that you would never watch while home alone at night.
This lens is dedicated to the movies that scared the crap out of us as a kid.
The Master of Suspense
Alfred Hitchcock
Good Eeeevening...Alfred Hitchcock was a pioneer in the thriller genre. He built tension in suspense rather than using shock value. His movies are stylish and thrilling, he remains my favorite director of horror movies. With too many movies to name, here are my top 3:
1. The birds (1963) - I recently saw this again on T.V and it still freaks me out, the sound of the birds screaming sends chills down my spine.
2. Psycho (1960) - That shower scene will forever be etched in all of our minds... music and all.
3. Rear Window (1954) - Who can ever forget Thorwald smoking his cigarette in the dark.
For all of you Hitchcock fans

Classic 1950's horror films
I remember watching these movies on those special nights when my parents would let me stay up late.My Favorites:
1. The Thing (1951)- John Carpenter's remake is also really good
2. The Fly (1958) - Just that end scene with the spider web is creepy enough!
3. Tarantula (1955)- I am pretty sure this is where my intense fear of spiders comes from.
4. War of the Worlds (1953)- Not so much scary as it is just a great classic movie about aliens invading planet earth.
Top 10 classic horror movies
Thank you for the nightmares
All the great horror movies that made it so we never swam in the ocean, never stayed home alone, never spent the night in a cabin and never drove through Texas without a certain amount of fear.My top 10 Selections:
1. Halloween (1978) - This for me was the scariest movie I ever watched as a teenager. For months afterwards I had nightmares and always peered around bushes walking home...thank you John Carpenter.
2. Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)- This movie absolutely terrified me! There were a couple of scenes in that movie I will never ever EVER forget!
3. The Shining (1980) - "come and play with us Danny, come and play with us" I had nightmares just from seeing the trailer to this movie as a kid.
4. The Exorcist (1973) - My husband watched this movie as a child and said he had nightmares for years afterwards. Thankfully I didn't see this until I was a teenager.
5. Invasion of the body snatchers (1978) - One of the best endings to any horror movie I have ever seen!
6. Night of the living dead (1968)- Classic zombie movie and a great character study.
7. The omen (1976)- Great creepy ambiance.
8. Evil Dead (1981) - The scene with the evil rushing through the woods is one of my favorites scenes from any horror movie.
9. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - one of those gory movies that just messes you up in the head.
10. Jaws (1975)- After watching this as a kid I couldn't even swim in a swimming pool.
