I volunteered helping my friend who rescues horses, a few summers ago. In my neighborhood, we are trying to fund a non-profit that uses rescue horses to help provide education and services to autistic children. I will write about it soon!

We have three involuntary rescues here - we are equine education not a rescue - but I couldn't help it. I know in the current economy, rescue operations are bursting at the seams and could definitely use more volunteers.

I have been looking for a horse rescue operation within driving distance. I'd love to volunteer in this manner. I used to live near a ranch in Texas that cared for rescued horses. I would often stop by to give the horses some TLC. I really miss that. Of course, there are plenty of horses everywhere, due to the economy, that are needing support. I feel very sorry for a lot of the horses I see penned up inappropriately in my region. Lots of people just turn their horses loose when they can no longer afford to feed them. Thanks for spotlighting this critical issue. Nicely done!
