You're Having Twins! Make Sure Everyone Knows!

It's a shock at first, but as soon as you catch your breath it's the most exciting news! You're having twins! Yayyyy!

Now, about that baby shower....

There's really not that much to worry about. You'll want to pay attention to your timing, of course, and you'll read more about that in a minute. But the one thing you do need to be concerned about is your invitations.

If you're inviting a lot of people you haven't had a lot of contact with it's important to let them know you're having twins.

Not so you can be greedy and ask for two gifts! But because it's rude NOT to tell them.

The guests who do know you're having twins will bring appropriate gifts whether you mention it in the invitations or not. But those who don't know will be embarrassed when they see what everyone else brings.

So at the very least, make sure you let all your baby shower guests know, with your invitations, that you're having twins. Yayyyy!

The Biggest Difference When Planning A Shower For Twins

Typically, when you plan a baby shower for a woman who's having a single baby, you wait and schedule just a couple of weeks before the due date. A month at most.

But planning a shower for twins is a little different.

You want the mother-to-be to be able to enjoy the shower and you need to remember that women carrying twins or triplets are often under a lot more physical stress than other pregnant women. By the time those last few weeks arrive they may be too uncomfortable to enjoy a party.

There's also a little more risk when carrying twins and they may be under house arrest - or bed rest - by that last month, or even by the last trimester.

When planning a baby shower for a woman expecting twins, plan it for no later than the end of the second trimester so they're comfortable and mobile enough to enjoy it.

And if you really want to make it special, plan the party at her house. But make sure YOU handle everything! Including arriving early enough to prepare the food and decorate and staying late enough to clean up every last trace of the party and help put all the gifts away!

Elephant Family with Twins Baby Shower Invitations

Even if everything else at your Baby Shower is just like any other traditional shower, you should at least use Invitations that tell everyone you're expecting twins.

First, everyone is going to want to share in your happiness and excitement.

But more important, it's rude to put "Please Bring 2 Gifts" on the invitation. And maybe everyone doesn't know you're expecting twins. Those who only bring one gift to your shower will feel embarrassed. And a good hostess never puts her guest in that position!

Art, you are so sensitive in sharing that the mother expecting twins may have greater needs than those expecting a single baby...that is just so darn cool of you! How very considerate. No, I am not expecting twins...better clarify, I'm not expecting.
