Misconsceptions they want you to believe in so you continue to pay.

Lie: You need a dedicated ultra high speed connection like a high-speed T1 line.
Truth: You need a high speed connection like the one you have already, cable or adsl to

start out you don't need anything extreme.

Lie: Software vendors such as Microsoft and Netscape either bundle Web servers with

other products or sell them separately in packages that cost anywhere from $500 to

    $2,000.
Truth: Opensource developers design web server software that can be install and run for

free. The cost to you, is nothing but having to learn the technology.

Lie: A typical Web server with a good processor, lots of memory and a large hard disk

costs at least $2,000, although they can run much, much higher.
Truth: You can run a web server on a computer that is a pentium 3 with 512 megs of ram.

It doesn't have to cost you allot of money to do it yourself.

Lie: Your Webmaster must have the technical skill to keep your site r

There are also Free Hosting options

Sometimes on the internet you will find free hosting options. Depending on what you want to do with your website, this may be the best option for you. For example, if you just want a blog, you can start one using: www.blogger.com. There are also allot of web 2.0 social networking sites like squidoo that encourage you to put together a good blog. You can also sign up for a free website here: http://www.000webhost.com/74565.html - I like this option because they support Joomla. I am a big super fan of Joomla. So if you don't want to really host yourself or feel your computer isn't good enough to withstand some popularity, you can always take a step up to free hosting from self hosting. Sometimes, you might also get lucky your Internet hosting provider will also give you some free webspace, you can and should utilize that somewhere for your online endeavors, after all you already are paying for it. So in conclusion think about what you want for your site and check out some free hosting options. Just google ' free hosting ' and see what pops up.
