The Best Hot And Sour Soup Recipes
Hot and sour soup refers to soups from mainly Asian influence. Chinese versions of the soup is usually thinner and centered around meat; such as chicken or pork. American versions typically have a chicken broth but no meat. American hot and sour soup is also thicker than other versions because it adds cornstarch. The one thing they have the same is that all hot and sour soups contain ingredients to make it both spicy and sour.

Hot and Sour Soup Recipe
Ingredients
- sliced pork
- sliced tofu
- sliced wooden mushroom
- sliced mushrooms
- sliced carrots
- sliced tomoto
- 1 egg
- 1 diced green onions
- 3 tbsp vinegar
- 1/2 tsp white pepper powder
- 1 tbsp cornstarch diluted in 3 tbsp water
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- pinch of salt
Instructions
1. Heat a wok with water or chicken soup and add the sliced pork, tofu and wooden mushroom. Toss in the mushrooms, carrots and tomato. Stir.
2. Add the diluted cornstarch and mix. Bring to a boil with continuous stirring.
3. Discard the top layer of foam and some oil and sprinkle some salt and 1 teaspoon of vinegar.
4. Beat the egg and slowly pour into the soup. Mix the soup slowly.
5. Add in the white pepper powder and 2 teaspoons of vinegar and a little bit of sesame oil. Finish it with the green onions.
6. Serve.
