Hot Stone Massage

Oral and recorded history for hundreds of years have talked about the therapeutic virtues of laying smooth warm stones upon an aching body. Over time the simple practice has evolved into an art whose favorite stone is made off Basalt which is found in lava. The stones pass warmth into the aching and tired muscles bringing relief and stress reduction.

The technique brings about soothing relaxation of both body and mind, helping to transition you into a broader and healthier outlook not only for you own life but for all those you come in contact with. Hot stone radiates its warmth even to the center of your heart touching your compassion and nourishing your love for yourself.

Hot Stone Massage Technique

When gently heated the rocks and sometimes the gems used in the massage are placed on the clients skin and a transfer of warmth achieves focus on the spot of the pain. A certified and well trained massage therapist places the warm stones into the palms of her hand to massage the back, neck and muscles in arms and legs to help get the blood flowing. The masseuse uses these techniques to perform a relaxing gentle massage. An additional part of the process is to leave the warm stones for a prescribed amount of time in strategic places on the body.

This is because natural basalt has a very high iron and magnesium content. Let's imagine a piece of steel that has been exposed to the natural elements for any length of time. The elements combine to create what we know as ru

A hot stone massage doesn't only feel amazing, it also has health benefits. It's the same concept as when someone uses a heat pad when they are sore. The transfer of the heat from the stone to the client is therapeutic. It is even more beneficial when combined with cold stones.
