Why Bikram Yoga?

Bikram yoga is without doubt the most intense form of yoga and probably the most extreme physical activity for any human being; however, it is an exercise that people actually enjoy and feel rewarded once the yoga session is completed. Bikram Yoga, commonly know as the hot yoga has this name for a reason - it is normally practiced in a room with an average temperature of 40°C but it could be as hot as 40.6°C, the session normally runs between 60 to 90 minutes and there are as many as twenty six set of different postures.

4. While during the actual session you might feel uncomfortable due to the high temperature, Bikram yoga is probably one of the best exercises to reduce stress levels, reducing the symptoms of depression and increasing your self-esteem.

5. It accelerates and regulates your metabolism - it is the best type of yoga to practice if you want to lose weight, you might burn as much as 500 calories during a class.

Precautions with Hot Yoga

1. If you are under medical supervision or have any underlying health issue you must consult your doctor before even attempting a short session of Bikram yoga.

2. Consumption of fluids is vital before, during and after a hot yoga session - it is the only to avoid dehydration and maintain the nutrients that your body needs (especially sodium and choride).

3. It is not recommended for pregnant women and children - people with hypertension problems or diabetes must consult their doctor.

4. Dizziness is very common, especially if you are a beginner; however, if you don't feel well or it is unbearable hot for you then it is recommended to leave the room until you feel better.

5. Listen to the instructor carefully, especially the precautions and tips provided.

    Hot yoga is probably the most demanding and challenging forms of yoga; however, it provides multiple benefits to your health; it is good to give it a go
