Serve Up the Heat - with class!
Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Tea ...Even Hot Apple Cider!
Whatever your guests like ...
When it comes to serving the hot drinks, they are not as easily displayed as the cold drinks because you can't just drop in ice to keep them cold. You need to think about how you want to present them as well as functionally keep them hot.
Some events require elegance as well as others just need a ton of drink.
I like to have mine served up with class. If you are looking for a way to serve up yours - there are many options :
Modern Hot Beverage Dispensers
Serving Beverages at Big Parties
Coffee Urns serve a crowd!
You can impress your guests with something nice, and be sure to have enough to go around with a coffee urn.
Churches always need a big urn, as do people that entertain regularly. You can choose something simple and functional, or elegant and ornate. Either way, a traditional coffee urn will hold enough hot beverage to serve the crowd. I have even seen these in up-class stores to serve their customers throughout the day.
You can use them for Coffee, Tea, Hot Chocolate, or even Hot Apple Cider Etc... Anything that is Hot.
You may choose to get one large urn for the most popular beverage and smaller pitchers for less popular drinks that you might be serving, or you can get a set of 3 matching urns - your choice!
Elegant Coffee Urn
If you are having gatherings with a group that you want to impress - this is a sure way.
Reed & Barton Sheffield Collection 25-Cup Silverplated Burgundy Coffee Urn
Amazon Price: $308.35 (as of 06/01/2012)![]()
This is the most beautiful of coffee urns. I love serving hot chocolate on a cold night party with this one. I still get comments on it's beauty - even from people that have seen it before.
It holds a good 20-25 cups, so it is big enough for a decent crowd, although not too huge for a smaller one.
Sometimes I fill it a little over half way and it works great for the girls night out. Elegance at its best ! It really does give a beautiful feel to our tea parties...
It looks so impressive, that at a potluck you can bring inexpensive coffee or hot chocolate, and look quite good to your peers ...
Airpot / Thermos with Pump on Top
Again, you may choose to get more than one so you can serve up different choices to your guests - they are often seen together in groups at events. I suggest getting 2-3 of the same ones, so they look nice together, and are available for various choices or for switching out when they are empty.
These do not hold as much as the coffee urns though, so be prepared to refill as needed if you have a large crowd.

For Keurig Brewers
There are also refillable cups so you do not have to buy the prepacked cups for your every day drinking habits, although they do make for nice display and offerings at parties (especially served up in the carousel above). You can also get disposable pods that you fill yourself as well, which are a bit cheaper as well - and allow you to drink your favorite beverage if it is not available prepacked for your device.
The Mini Keruig
Keurig 35 B30 Mini Personal Single-Serve Brewing System, Black
Amazon Price: $99.99 (as of 06/01/2012)![]()
This one will not be the best for a crowd - but for your own kitchen - especially if you live alone or are the only one that drinks hot drinks ...
It uses the same technology as the big one, but is small enough for office, or home.
Would not be great for the crowds though, as it would require adding water a million times ...
Save Some Money on K-Cups!
Hot Drinks served in Coolers with Spouts!
They are the traditional picnic looking coolers. They would not be appropriate at a wedding or high class function, but would certainly do fine at a backyard BBQ or large family function.
They will hold a hot drink hot for about 4-6 hours. - Great for Hot Chocolate on a cold night by the campfire !

Ornate
Hot Apple Cider
- Serves: 8 (3/4 cup servings)
- Prep Time: 8 minutes
- Total Time: 13 minutes
Here is a great recipe to make Hot Apple Cider - You, of course, can buy it done, and just warm it- but if you take a little time, you can make it way better !
Ingredients
- 6 cups of store bought apple cider (from orchard is best - but grocery store will do)
- 1/4 cup of maple syrup (most orchards sell that too ...) - Real Maple Syrup
- not "pancake syrup"
- 2-3 Cinnamon Sticks (fresher is better) - Can substitute 1Tsp of Powder
- 5-6 Whole Cloves
- 1/2 Tsp All Spice Powder (or 4 whole berries) - Can also substitue Nutmeg
- Diced very small - 1/2 McIntosh Apple (can also just slice thin and float if in beautiful dispeser for beauty too)
- Citrus Zest (Peel) from 1/2 Orange and/or 1/2 Lemon - (colored part only
- not the white) sliced into very thin strips - Can also used jar "zest" (orange or lemon)
Instructions
You can cook on stove top, or heat directly in crock pot etc.
Mix the cider and syrup together with either method
If using whole foods, not powders:
Place all other items in washed square of cheesecloth, tied with kitchen string - kind of like a home made tea bag, so you can simmer with these items, but then remove. If you do not have cheesecloth, you can cook with everything right in there and strain before serving.
if using powders, just toss it all in and warm it up!
Should cook on stove top for 5-10 minutes on medium heat, but do not boil.
Can also use crockpot to simmer. - teabag method suggested to avoid getting those large pieces in drink ...
Serve in 3/4 to 1 cup portions with Cinnamon Stick for presentation and stirring :O) ENJOY

Try Renting the Hot Drink Dispenser You Want or Need!
There are many places that rent the large urns. Some places rent the nice ornate looking ones, and others rent the big more industrial type. Either way if you know you will only use it once, you might want to consider the available rentals.
Below are some rental places, but I would google "coffee urn rental" and "your city" so you get something local.
Also, though, keep in mind, that some of the above options are not that expensive, and if they end up being half of what it costs to rent one, you might want to just purchase one so you have it for any future events. I love having mine :O) I don't use it super often, but when I pull out my beautiful coffee dispenser, my guests always are impressed :O) I love that feeling.

- The elegant coffee urn looks great, it's ornate and keeps the drink warm. I've seen some that hang over flames which I'd love to have.

The Most Important Thing ...
If your spending $$$ on a dispenser, be sure it will serve the crowd you have in mind, and be sure it is something that you will be proud to serve up at your next party. Be sure that you do not cheat yourself and get something you will wish you didn't have later. You like will not be wanting to buy another any time soon ...
