Hotels in London

Like any capital city, there are plenty of hotels in London that you can choose from.

The quality of the hotels ranges from acceptable right the way through to the highest international hotel quality.

Hotels in central London are the most convenient for sightseeing but may be out of your price bracket. If that's the case, it may be worth choosing a hotel that's slightly further out and making use of London's public transport system.

Choosing Among London Hotels During your Trip

While there is no official registry of London hotels, it is estimated there are more than 100,000 hotel rooms in London; allowing you to choose from a wide array of styles and price levels. Approximately 70,000 of the hotels in London rank in the three to five star range; located within 10 kilometers of Central London. The largest growth of London hotels seems to have exploded inside the City of London while Chelsea and Kensington have fallen somewhat in terms of the number of hotels in their immediate area.

The largest concentration of luxury hotels seems to be in London's West End, particularly in Mayfair. Compared to international standards, five star hotels in London do tend to be somewhat small. One of the largest five start hotels in London has only 459 rooms while many of the other five star hotels have 50 or fewer rooms.

Hotels located throughout the city offer a wide variety of style, allowing you to choose accommodations that will perfectly suit your taste. The Ritz, Savoy and Dorchester are all traditional grand hotels. Some recent conversion of grand late 19th century office buildings have produced such hotels as the Renaissance Chancery Court and One Aldwych. If you are looking for something a bit more modern you might consider some of the chain hotels such as the London Hilton on Park Lane and the Four Seasons London. Boutique designer hotels, such as the St. Martins Lane Hotel, are also an excellent choice.
