Choosing a hot tub

Choosing a hot tub or spa for your home can be a very difficult task, especially for individuals who have little knowledge on the subject. There are thousands of different hot tubs on the market with an endless variety of spa accessories to choose from. In order to help you make the shopping process easier, we have compiled a list of questions to ask yourself before you begin shopping, and some helpful hints to assist you in the process:

Which type of hot tub do I want?

This is possibly the most important factor to determine before you begin shopping. There are so many types to choose from that it would literally take days to look through all the options. You need to decide which type will best suit your home and your needs. The first thing to determine is your hot tub location. Do you want an indoor hot tub or an outdoor tub? Once you have determined the location, you need to establish whether you prefer an above ground model or an in ground model? Once these questions have been answered you can continue on with the process.

What size/shape would I prefer?

Many potential hot tub buyers often ask themselves the question, does the size or shape of my hot tub matter? The answer is yes and these are elements which should be considered before you choose a hot tub. How many seats are you going to want in your hot tub? How would you like the seating laid out? The number of seats you choose will have a great impact on the size of the hot tub you choose. If you prefer a 2 seat hot tub, a square model may be best; whereas if you prefer a 4 or 6 seat model you will probably need a larger shape, such as an octagon or possibly even a large rectangle. These factors should be fully researched prior to shopping.

How much money am I willing to spend?

This is a very important element to consider. The amount of money you are willing to spend will determine your limitations when it comes to choosing a home spa. Hot tubs and spas can range from about $2,000 to over $30,000 depending on the type you choose. If you don't want to spend a large amount of money you may want to consider looking at inflatable hot tubs or possibly even some used hot tub models. On the other hand, if money is not a problem for you, your options are basically unlimited. There are a number of luxury options, including spa stereos and TVs which can be incorporated into your spa design.

Buy the best hot tub: hot tub safety

Safety is number one priority. There are two sides to this issue -

First, check if the hot tub you want to buy is listed, recognized, and certified for home use by such product testing agencies as
Underwriters Laboratories (UL);
ETL SEMKO (formerly ETL - Edison Testing Laboratory) or
American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM International).

DO NOTM buy a hot tub that does not meet the requirements of safe use.

Secondly, make sure to have secure locks installed on the hot tub cover, in order to keep small children away from using the hot tub without proper adult supervision. For solutions of additional safety measures, don't hesitate to contact your local hot tub dealer.

And of course, common sense is the crucial issue when using a hot tub. No matter what precautions are taken; the human being is the one who can prevent the biggest errors. Ironically, however, he is the only one that makes them too.

DO NOT leave small children alone around the hot tub
and
DO NOT go bathing drunk or high.

SIZE

The size factor of the hot tub involves 2 things -

Making sure that there is
ENOUGH AVAILABLE SPACE for your hot tub, regardless of where you are going to put it. Of course, you should do that in the first place, because you'll need sufficient access to your hot tub; for instance, it must be close to appropriate source of electricity, and there should be enough space to get to the parts of the tub that may require repairs in the future. The position of the hot tub must provide enough privacy for you to fully enjoy every soak. And also a nice view to the mountains would be very neat, too.

Deciding on the
SEATING CAPACITY.
Of course, a twin spa may sound very romantic and all, but how romantic sounds trying to squeeze in the whole family and friends on Thanksgiving in a two seat hot tub? Not particularly. So invest some extra money, and get a big one, like the ancient Romans did.
Okay, maybe not that big after all.

Hotin Hot Tubs

The Hotin Hot Tubs portal contains tons of free information about various Hot Tub aspects, like what kinda hot tub you should be looking to buy, how to choose the best model that's gonna suit your personal needs, what chemicals you should use you keep your water crystal clear, how to set up a gazebo for your Hot Tub in the backyard - you name it!

One other thing is, that we have a great Hot Tub Discussion Forum for all you Hot Tub lovers out there, where you can have a chat with other Hot Tub owners, ask for help or advice and basically do whatever you like (what regards Hot Tubs, that is).

You'll love the design and the layout of the website and the forum, because the way we see it, it's year 2007, not 1997, right? So no crappy html and color mismatch here. No bad coding and no limits. Pure quality. Well, at least if you compare the Hotin with other websites offering information about hot tubs and spas.

And what about the discussion forum? Forgedaboutit! Let's see - the forum that we have, (brand new 2007 design, let me add), and other forums. Well, what do you think? Of course we have the best looking one. We're constantly adding new features, and we love to hear from our visitors what they need or expect from our website. The website already covers most of the categories, like hot tub chemicals - how and when to use them, some pretty much overlooked topics on other websites like hot tub ozonators (c'mon, don't you wanna know what these are?) or hot tub gazebos (we even got a nice little guide for you on how to set up one in your backyard) and many, MANY more.

Alright, so enough bragging, spread the word people, gimme some feedback, and don't forget to drop by and say hello. We're always happy to see new people registering.

Hydrotherapy - Do It At Home!

more at http://www.ezhottubs.com

The healing and recuperative properties of hydrotherapy are due to it's thermal and mechanical effects. It employs the body's reaction to hot and cold stimuli. From the skin the nerves carry impulses deeper into the body. This is instrumental in lessening pain sensitivity, invigorating blood flow and circulation, increasing the production of stress hormones and stimulating the immune system.

Hydrotherapy's more conventional uses are the treatment of muscle weakness, balance disorders, diabetes and other diseases that impair circulation, cramps, premenstrual syndrome, arthritis, back pain, musculo-skeletal injuries and soft tissue injuries.

In a two week pilot study, fourteen patients with ankylosing spondylitus (AS) were treated using hot water mineral baths. A significant improvement was found in finger to floor distance, morning stiffness and over all well-being was noted in the patients by physicians. A significant reduction in the use of analgesics was also noted. These improvements began after one week of treatment and was still present after three months.

Heat has the tendency to quiet and soothe the body while slowing down the activity of internal organs. A soak in a hot tub will help when experiencing tense muscles and anxiety from stress. One experiences weightlessness when being submerged in water. the body is given a break from the constant pull of gravity. Water in motion stimulates touch receptors on the skin releasing tight muscles and boosting blood circulation. The water knead the body providing a massage like feeling.

Hot Tub Chemicals. Pt. 1

Hot tub chemicals are the third most important thing the hot tub needs to function properly. The first two are water and electricity, and there isn't much to tell about it, so instead let's focus on hot tub chemicals, a topic that the vast majority of hot tub owners are confused about. The following hot tub chemicals guide is intended to help you decide what hot tub chemicals to use, when and how. Read this in conjunction with our hot tub maintenance guide.

The process of applying hot tub chemicals is also called hot tub sanitization. You will need to do this quite often, in order to keep the water clean and pure. The importance of the hot tub chemicals use cannot be emphasized enough, because a huge variety of bacteria grows in warm water, and while sometimes the utilization of certain hot tub chemicals may lead to minor negative side effects, you are far better off using hot tub chemicals than not doing so.

Important Note - before utilizing any hot tub chemicals, you first have to test the chemical levels already present in the water. This can be done with a special hot tub test strip, which is designed to measure chlorine, bromine, biguanide or mineral contents in the water. These strips are very easy to use and they will provide you with all the information necessary on further use of hot tub chemicals.

One of the most popular hot tub chemicals is chorine. You will probably be already familiar with the distinct smell of chlorine, which is so often found in swimming pools. Well, your hot tub is no different, so you will have to use chlorine probably the most frequently of all the hot tub chemicals. We will not get into organic chemistry here, but just as a quick fact - thanks to chlorine, 80 to 90% of the world's population can enjoy clean drinking water. The chlorine hot tub chemicals are available in tablets and granules specially created for hot tub use

QCA Ozonator For Hot Tubs

QCA Ozonator For Hot Tubs

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

Need to get some answers about Hot Tubs and you don't know where to start?
The Hotin Discussion Forum might be just what you were looking for!

Hot Tub Chemicals. Pt. 2

Another kind of hot tub chemicals is bromine. It is much like chlorine, only it needs to be applied in larger quantities than the chlorine hot tub chemicals. You may personally want to use bromine hot tub chemicals because they produce less-sharp smell than chlorine hot tub chemicals, and it does not turn to fumes at higher temperatures.

Hot tub chemicals also include biguanide. This group of hot tub chemicals is of non-chlorine and non-bromine nature, so you can forget any unpleasant smell or dangerous fumes. Biguanide hot tub chemicals help keep the water clean by killing bacteria on contact - attacking the cell wall and destroying the organic matter.

Mineral Spa Care hot tub chemicals group. By using these hot tub chemicals, you can decrease the need to use chlorine or bromine hot tub chemicals, though not entirely get rid of them. However, you should strongly consider using Mineral Spa Care hot tub chemicals because the less you need to use chlorine or bromine, the better your hot tub will smell. Mineral Spa Care hot tub chemicals usually come in cartridges that you must place inside your filter.

Soaking In The Hot Tub May Reduce Male Fertility?

http://sanfrancisco.bizjournals.com

<...> But then Turek offers a bit of golden advice to men who want to conceive a child. He said "treat your body like a temple: Eat well, sleep well and take good care of yourself."

One problem is that if I want to be good to my body, I sit in the Jacuzzi with the water as hot as I can take it and the jets on high, particularly after a day filled with stress.

It takes a brass band and a forklift to get my children's' lifeless bodies out of bed and a blow dart filled with elephant tranquilizer to return them there at the end of the day. (I like the .40 caliber Aborigine with the tempered aircraft grade aluminum alloy tubing loaded with Phencyclidine). Some of us need a hot soak to help take the edge off the day. This study is an example of the failure of an academic type like Turek to see the forest from the gump.

Medical benefits can be missed if your mind isn't open to seeing them. The hair growth treatment Minoxidil was originally sold as a blood pressure medication. The artificial sweetener Aspartame was being developed as an ulcer medicine until a researcher accidentally tasted it. The erectile dysfunction blockbuster Viagra was originally developed to treat angina.

Turek may have gotten the data right, but he blew his conclusion. The point here is not that hot tubs can cause infertility. The important thing here is that a common method for short-term stress release has shown evidence of long-term preventive powers. <...>

Be sure to consult with the Hot Tub Cover Guide first!

Things to keep in mind

when you're buying a hot tub

  • Take a very good look at the fit and finish of the hot tub. If what you see looks poorly made, you can be sure that what you don't see is like that too.
  • Look for a hot tub that has its key components installed within easy reach. When, or if, something requires repairs, you want it to be as easy as possible, without having to dig out the entire yard.
  • One more wise thing to do would be to ask for a couple numbers of some customers, so you could call them up and inquire about their experiences with that particular dealer or hot tub model. OR you can just go post some questions in our hot tub discussion board.

About Hot Tub Jets

  • Ozone Jet:
This jet is all about bubbles. If you have an ozonator (an ozone gas generator) installed, ozone will be injected into the water to kill the bacteria, so contributing to the sanitization cycle of your hot tub. And producing bubbles at the same time. You can also look for hot tubs with pre-installed "Air Bubbler" systems. These contain a special blower, which sends a whole lot more bubbles all throughout the hot tub, gently caressing your body.
  • Volcano Jet:
It's basically a big jet positioned at the very bottom. The water is pushed upwards to produce a volcano-eruption-like effect.
  • Whirlpool Jet:
This particular jet is designed to provide a great deal of pressure in a contained area. For the best effect, it should be installed midway into the tub, so you could move your body and let it massage a certain part of your body. You should look for whirlpool jets if you have injured your muscles.
