U2 headed to theaters in 3D

U2 fans will get a belated Christmas gift from the group this month in the form of "U23D," a concert film that creators are billing as "the first live-action movie shot and exhibited in breakthrough digital 3D."
Captured during the South American leg of U2's Vertigo Tour, the film will premiere Jan. 18 at Colorado's Sundance Film Festival, and then will hit theaters in select cities Jan. 23, according to the film's official website, which is hosted by National Geographic. More...
Velvet Revolver maps trek into spring
Rock-and-roll supergroup Velvet Revolver will be back on the road this month as it continues the worldwide push behind its sophomore album. The band, which has been touring North America since August, has booked 11 more US dates beginning Jan. 24 in Chicago. The trek will visit clubs and theaters in the Midwest and on the West Coast through Feb. 9, after which time Velvet Revolver will make up canceled dates in Australia and then head to Europe for a three-week jaunt. Contentious or congenial, rock reunions were the hot tickets in 2007, as three high-profile band resurrections finished among the 10 highest-grossing concert tours of the year.
The Police led the way, topping Pollstar magazine's annual ranking of the North American concert business. The trio's reunion tour pulled in $131.9 million over 54 shows, coming close to the Rolling Stones' $138.5-million take that topped last year's list. More...

The Spice Girls, a group formed in London in 1994 consisting of Victoria Beckham (née Adams), Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Melanie Chisholm (replacing Lianne Morgan) signed to Virgin Records and released their debut single, "Wannabe", in 1996. The song went on to spend seven weeks at the top of the UK Singles Chart and helped establish the group as an "international phenomenon". They went on to release three studio albums and ten singles, selling in excess of 55 million records worldwide.
The Spice Girls returned to the stage with the first concert of their reunion tour wowing fans with a tightly staged and ambitiously choreographed performance in Vancouver, Canada on Dec. 3, 2007.
