House M.D

House (also known as House, M.D.) is an American television medical drama. This is my favorite series. No one can be indifferent to the genius and a remarkable person

"Everybody Lies" T-shirt
The TV show "House M.D." - shortened to "House" - broadcast on Fox on Monday nights is a medical descendent of the Sherlock Holmes stories.
Holmes was based on a doctor and Gregory House, MD (played by Hugh Laurie), like Holmes, is an observational genius with the ability to see a pattern in small things and draw conclusions from that. Dr. House is a diagnostician instead of a detective but there are echoes of Holmes and other influences upon House MD (character and television series). And if you missed any episodes so far you can get them from Amazon Unbox for $1.99

Instead of criminals, the enemy is germs, diseases and other vulnerabilities of the human body, tracked down like criminals. But House isn't just derived from Holmes. The character may also have influences from other mythic characters.

The stories usually follow the pattern of the scientific method: The team thinks up possibilities based on the evidence and then tests them, eliminating the ones that don't pass the tests until they come up with a theory that works. Or as Sherlock Holmes said, "When you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." Some critics have derided the plots for being formalistic, but if through interesting fiction, the writers are demonstrating how science works, there is genius in their method.

The House M.D. Guide, has spoilers if you want details of what the producers and writers of the TV show have planned for the future. But you will never run into spoilers without clicking on a link to them that specifically says "Spoilers"! We also link to various reviews and articles from the press. And we will have quotes from House and his team on character and episode pages. And we have information on the DVDs, books and other merchandise.

This site will grow over the years as it follows this show. Join us to see what we add or to give us information. We will be glad to link to any other related websites and we give gold stars to people who report mistakes on the site and help us edit this.

HOUSE

HOUSE, an innovative take on the medical drama, is a series in which the villain is a medical malady and the hero is an irreverent, controversial doctor who trusts no one, least of all his patients.

HOUSE has been honored with four Emmy Awards, including an award for creator and executive producer David Shore (Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series). The series has been honored with 23 Emmy Award nominations, including four for Outstanding Drama Series and five for Hugh Laurie (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series). The series received the 2006 Humanitas Prize for the episode "Three Stories" and four Humanitas finalist honors, one each for the 2009 episode "Unfaithful," the 2007 episode "House vs. God" and the 2005 episodes "Everybody Lies" and "Damned If You Do."

Additionally, HOUSE received two Golden Globe Awards for Laurie (Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series) and two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Laurie (Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series) as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination (Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series); three Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Television Series, Drama; three NAACP Image Award nominations for Outstanding Drama Series; and two NAACP Image Awards for Omar Epps (Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series).

The show has also been honored by the American Film Institute as one of the TV Programs of the Year, and it received a Peabody Award for Best of Electronic Media, as well as three consecutive People's Choice Awards for Favorite TV Drama, two People's Choice Awards for Laurie and two Writers Guild Awards for Episodic Drama ("Broken" and "Autopsy").

DR. GREGORY HOUSE (Laurie), devoid of bedside manner and dealing with his own constant physical pain, uses a cane that punctuates his acerbic, brutally honest demeanor. His behavior often borders on antisocial, but House is a brilliant diagnostician whose unconventional thinking and flawless instincts afford him a great deal of respect. An infectious disease specialist, he thrives on the challenge of solving medical puzzles in order to save lives.

House shepherds an elite team of experts who help him unravel diagnostic mysteries, including plastic surgeon DR. CHRIS TAUB (Peter Jacobson), enigmatic DR. REMY HADLEY/THIRTEEN (Olivia Wilde) and surgeon DR. ROBERT CHASE (Jesse Spencer). He has a confidant and good friend in oncology specialist DR. JAMES WILSON (Robert Sean Leonard), and maintains a somewhat volatile and undefined relationship with DR. LISA CUDDY (Lisa Edelstein), the Dean of Medicine and hospital administrator. Though the two are in constant conflict over House's duties and unconventional behavior, even she would admit that his brilliance is worth the trouble. Neurologist DR. ERIC FOREMAN (Omar Epps) serves as Cuddy's eyes and ears on House's team.

In the Season Six finale, House, driven by the loss of a patient he treated at an accident site and confronted with the unexpected news that Cuddy was now engaged, spiraled into despair and considered treating his mental and emotional anguish with Vicodin, potentially prompting the cycle of his dependency and addiction all over again. But in a surprising turn, Cuddy revealed that she called off her engagement and admitted to House she loves him, despite wishing she didn't. Also, Thirteen submitted her leave of absence from the hospital, prompting questions about the status of her health.

As Season Seven begins, House and Cuddy attempt to make a real relationship work and face the question as to whether their new relationship will affect their ability to diagnose patients.

HOUSE is from Heel and Toe Films, Shore Z Productions and Bad Hat Harry Productions in association with Universal Media Studios. Katie Jacobs, David Shore, Paul Attanasio, Bryan Singer, Russel Friend, Garrett Lerner, Thomas L. Moran, Greg Yaitanes and Hugh Laurie are executive producers.
