House of Sylvestermouse's Ebay Showcase

Meet Sylvestermouse

Several years ago I opened the House of Sylvestermouse on Ebay. I specialize in Craft Kits, Books, Patterns and Supplies, but I also offer a select group of specialty Items such as frames, handbags, totes, and other gift items.

I sell crochet, needlework, sewing and craft items because I enjoy creating beautiful keepsakes myself. When a buyer asks a question about an item, I can usually answer because of my own personal experience.

    Cross Stitch Patterns

Cross Stitch is one of the easiest ways to create beautiful art. Cross stitched gifts make treasured keepsakes.

My own Squidoo avatar is a cross stitch pattern, "Mother's Loving Hands" by Paula Vaughan.

    Cross Stitch Kits

Cross Stitch Kits are marvelous. Often everything you need to create a beautiful piece are included in the kit, but be sure to check the list of contents on each package or auction listing.

This photo is of a finished cross stitch picture.

I published a step by step cross stitch instruction article with photos of it's progress while I made this little mouse.

    How About Crochet

Crocheting is another way to make a priceless gift that one day will be a treasured heirloom.

My mother was the recipient of my first crochet afghan. I made a baby blanket and a tooth fairy pillow for each of my children. They are all keepsakes now.

I have written a beginner crochet Squidoo article as well. If you need a refresher or you want to learn to crochet, please join me at Beginner Crochet from the House of Sylvestermouse

    Knitting

It has been many years since I have picked up my knitting needles, but I do still have a knitted sweater that I made for myself about 20 years ago.

There are many beautiful patterns available for the avid knitter.

It is always so much fun to give a child a handmade knitted animal. With a knitted friend, there are no small parts to worry about being swallowed.

    Perfect!

    Beaded Ornament Kits

One of my favorite gifts to give or receive is a handmade beaded ornament for the Christmas Tree.

Every year I place the bead and sequin bell ornaments that my own mother made decades ago on our Christmas tree and I think of her working so many hours on making these beautiful heirloom gifts for us.

    Quilting is Truly an Art

The art of quilting is in and of itself a tradition that has been taught in homes for generations.

Whether you prefer hand or machine quilting, gorgeous quilted creations are truly a priceless, treasured heirloom. If you are a beginner quilter, there are smaller projects like beautiful place mats or tote bags for you to make.

The picture on the right is of a quilt in "Weekend Quilting Wonders." This is one of my favorite patterns and obviously, I love blue:)

    Hooked on Latch Hook

One of my first craft kits was a latch hook kit. I made a panda pillow which I gave to my mother. I think I was probably 7 or 8 years old. She still has that panda pillow on the guest bed in her home. Needless to say, I was hooked on latch hook.

Latch Hook has taken on a whole new dimension with stuffed animals. Isn't the teddy bear adorable?

Personally, I love the plush appeal of a latch hook Christmas tree skirt. I have been amazed by the detail of the current day kits.

    Plastic Canvas

Another quick and easy craft is plastic canvas. It is a great place to start if you are just learning needlework techniques.

Sewing in the House of Sylvestermouse

When I was a little girl, my mother and my grandmother both owned sewing machines and made beautiful clothes. They also make gifts for me My grandmother made a stuffed mouse for me and my mother made barbie doll clothes for me.

I always enjoyed have the original clothes for my dolls and me.

Today, I make costumes for our family. Since we all enjoy Halloween and I enjoy sewing, we have the perfect arrangement.

    Felt Kits are Fun

Felt kits are a great way to be creative without having to spend years developing specialized skills or dedicating weeks or months to one project.

With a sewing machine and basic sewing skills, most felt kits are easy. I actually made a felt stocking with a kit and craft glue when I had to quickly assemble a stocking for an unexpected guest for Christmas. I would have hated for him to be the only child at our home without a stocking on Christmas morning.

    Painting

From painting pattern books to paint by number kits, I have products for the paint artist.

I can not draw or paint without the aid of a step by step pattern, so I love the books. The picture on the right is only one of the beautiful paint patterns from the "Floral Bouquets" book.

    Why I Sew and Handcraft

Because I enjoy so many different crafts, the hardest question I must answer is "which one today?"

Sometimes, I have several projects going at once. Most of the time, I prefer to focus on only one at a time. When I finish one, I start another, but I always have something I can hardly wait to begin.

I can not draw or paint beautiful pictures. I do not write beautiful awe inspiring words. I will never be remembered for impacting the world, but I can leave behind tokens of my love, created by my hands, for the family and friends I have been blessed to cherish.

It's nice to take a peek into your ebay store. I've always been fascinated by ebay and thought I would like to have a store. Maybe one day. I like what you featured here.

What a wonderful lens! I love your creations and the beautiful sentiment about why you make them. Well done!

Great presentation of your ebay stuff. I am just getting started on ebay. Good luck with making 100. I hope to see you at the finish line!

So beautiful, just awesome! All of these items are wonderful, and your descriptions are just perfect. I love the latch hook teddy. Actually I love everything! I'm hopeless at crafts, but after seeing your knitting section I do remember my knitting phase (yes, I knitted sweaters too!) when I knitted some really cute animals - I didn't do a unicorn though. Now I'm tempted! Great lens.

I disagree about your words...you are a beautiful writer! Love the lens!

Don't know about your drawing and painting skills, but your words are as masterful as your crafts. Loved the flow of this lens with your different craft projects, and also the styling choices. 5*s

It also inspired me to get back to some crochet crafts. Great job.
    • Alfiesgirl Mar 15, 2010 @ 3:32 am | delete
Whoever gave you the impression that you don't write awe inspiring words...and of all the people I have had the pleasure to converse with on Squidoo (and there are quite a few) I can honestly say that your words have had the hugest impact on me...I know that I'm not the world but to my children I am and so I speak for them too....Thankyou for....being you!...oh yes I almost forgot...fantastic lens and fantastic craft projects...your friends and family have truly been blessed and I thank the Lord for people like you x
    • Pukeko Mar 14, 2010 @ 3:42 pm | delete
Wow, you are one busy lady. I love the latch hook animals. I never saw those before.
    • 24websurf Mar 14, 2010 @ 2:50 pm | delete
Your talent is rare indeed! Such beautiful works have this very untalented person now wanting a latch kit like I had when I was a kid. I still have the Christmas stocking my grandmother made the year the year I was born, so I know that items made specifically for someone can mean a great deal and be lifetime or multi-generation keepsakes.

As for your comment about not writing awe inspiring words, I'd say you have done so here :)

You are very talented and this lens is really good! 5*
    • V1 Mar 14, 2010 @ 12:59 pm | delete
Great lens, in that it inspires and encourages hand-crafts. Lovingly hand-made gifts truly are works of art.
