Houseboat Building Plans

I want to build a houseboat. It wouldn't be a vacation house or someplace where I and my family would live for only short periods of time. No, it won't be like that because we are going to live there permanently. It is going to be our one and only home. Now some might think that it would be pretty uncomfortable to live in a houseboat, especially for my wife and kids. The truth is, they're all very excited about it and are looking forward to the day when we'd finally move into it. They actually can't wait, and keep bugging me if the construction of the house has already started.

I design and build houses for a living, so you have to understand that I'm pretty familiar with just about every kind of dwelling. I have been quite fortunate enough o be successful in my chosen field, allowing my family some luxuries that we might not have otherwise enjoyed. Some of those are trips and vacations to some choice spots here in the country and outside of it. They are therefore exposed to different places, and different kinds of dwellings too. Their insistence on having a houseboat for a permanent home is therefore nit wholly incidental.

As I continue finishing and revising the houseboat building plans, I recall the reason why we are having such a structure constructed in the first place. In one of our trips this past year, we were treated by a family friend to spend a weekend in his houseboat which was anchored on seashore. Our whole family was pretty impressed with that home, which led to us talking about having one for ourselves. The talk soon progressed and we came to the conclusion that we wan to live in that kind of house permanently. It is also the reason why I'm busy wrapping up the houseboat plan of our dream.

If you haven't tried house boating then I really encourage you to give it a go. You can rent a house boat for around the same amount as a hotel and you'll be able to get a feel for it. Many of the larger lakes across North America allow for house boating and you'll be able to rent a whole bunch of different house boats that will suit your needs. If you find you like it, then it is only a small step to finding and buying your own house boat.
