Housebreaking A Yorkie - You Can Do This With Help
do as soon as you bring that baby home!
To housebreak a Yorkie Puppy, you need to
start right away - the minute you bring
the puppy home!
You want this to be FUN - not a heartache of
soiled carpet and messy smells, right?
You can do this! You have to train yourself
to train this new yorkie pup. And you knew
that when you decided to buy this puppy or bring
it home, right?
So let's have fun!!!
So let's get started talking about the process---
Housebreaking A Yorkie Require These Things To Housebreak!
Time, Patience, and Persistence and A Potty Place!
When you are housebreaking a yorkie pup, you needthese things to be successful, no matter what method
you choose:
A Potty Place
Time
Patience
Persistence in doing the same thing the same way over and
over!
When your Yorkie puppy first wakes up,
you must immediately take him to the potty place
whether outside or inside on a puppy pad.
Put your Yorkie puppy on a regular feeding schedule
which will eventually be twice a day, about 10-12 hours apart.
After your Yorkie pup eats or drinks anything, take him/her
to the potty place.
After your dog plays or exercises, take him to the potty place.
Withhold water from your Yorkie pup for two to four hours
before your Yorkie puppy goes to bed.
Just before you go to bed, take him/her
to the potty place.
And in time in between, keep a careful eye on your
Yorkie pup so that they don't create a new potty
place to go back to when you are not looking.
Since they are small and low to the floor/ground,
it is easy for them to sneak behind the sofa or
under a chair.
You must keep your eyes glue to them at all
times in the housebreaking stage.
It will pay off - big time - later!!!!
Just like with everything in our lives,
pay a price, sacrifice your time and
energy and your investment of time,
patience and persistence will pay off
when you have a Yorkie puppy that
you can brag is "housebroken."
You can do this!
Housebreaking A Yorkie!
Give It Some Time!
Time - yours and your new Yorkie puppy's!You have to give that new puppy some time
to adjust to his/her surroundings.
You have to give up your own time to watch
this new puppy like a Mama Hawk!
I would suggest begin with crate training.
Keep in mind this is not a substitute
for housebreaking or potty training,
it just delays the Yorkie from hopefully
finding a new potty spot without you!
Puppies (not those raised in puppy mills
in cages), but those purchased by reputable
puppy dealers, do not like to soil their
own bedding.
Their favorite blanket is their "den"
and they like to keep that den clean
from relieving themselves where they
sleep and eat, if they can help it.
Sometimes they can't help it!
Remember, small breed = small bladder.
This new Yorkie pup has needs that a bigger
breed of dog does not have.
So, begin a plan of eating and housebreaking
on a schedule, just like a human baby!
You don't expect a human baby to potty-train
overnight, and it is the same with this new Yorkie puppy!
It will be a process that takes time,
but OHHHH---when you are there,
you will have a loyal Yorkie puppy
that will bring you joy for many years
to come...
So, keep in mind that this is
indeed a process.....
Housebreaking A Yorkie
It Can Be Done!
I know it can be discouraging at times, but really praise those successes!
Find a healthy treat at your favorite
store for puppies and reward that
Yorkie Pup everytime they do well.
Since their stomachs are so small,
and the treats can upset their stomach,
just break off a bit of a biscuit or their
treat for each positive reward for
their following your rules for
housebreaking!
