A Household Wind Turbine-Is It Worth The Trouble?

I don't like electric bills. Maybe I am a bit of a control freak but even though I can layer my clothes in the winter or keep the AC off until I can't stand it anymore, there doesn't seem to be a significant difference year after year. There are always the rate hikes that seem to take care of what meager dents I make in the bill through all of my efforts. Then I started thinking about a household wind turbine.
I have been watching the household wind turbine industry grow and develop over time. I know that the renewable energy advantages are incredible. The deal was that the prices were way to high for my budget. I also like electricity and have no aspirations to return to life without it. I admit it. I am spoiled and plan to keep it that way! Then I found I could build a household wind turbine. For around $200, I could start with providing enough electricity for a few lights and my computer or get hot water..

The Homeowner Wind Turbine-How to Get Started

Keep your first project small and aim high!

I found out how to get parts for free and certain components for a reduced price. It's just a matter of knowing what to look for with the help to put together a homeowner wind turbine. My first project didn't power everything I need, but now I can repeat the project and either add another household wind turbine or make the original one bigger. The first one has a high tower and is not that difficult to take down. I have it on a huge swivel that I can just ease to the ground. Pretty much like my old TV antenna. I am getting close to a point where the electric company will start to pay me. I can't wait!

They Don't have to Look Wierd

I personally like the look of wind turbines but I know many people think they are an eyesore. If you feel that you would love to generate your own power but don't want an alien in your backyard, be creative! Get your unit working with a homeowner wind turbine plan, then dress up the rudder(tail). Use some paint, or maybe a different design for the tail. A homeowner wind turbine can be both functional and artistic.
