All around the world, more and more men are giving up work to become househusbands and full time fathers.

Some are forced into it through economic reasons whilst other men actually choose to become househusbands as a positive lifestyle change.

My own experience was a mixture of both.

Having spent most of my working life in high stress and time demanding excecutive management postitions, when the company that myself and my wife both worked for closed down I was ready for a complete change of career and lifestyle.

My wife, who is a few years younger than me suggested that she should be the one to look for another fulltime job and allow me to take a year out to relax and concentrate on writing my books.

I of course welcomed the idea with open arms and was quite excited about my new life to be apart from the one condition that came with my new role of House Husband.

We also have five year old twins daughters!

I hadn't thought about the "Full Time Father" bit that goes hand in hand with being a Househusband!

This lens is going to be a chronical of my journey from High Flying Sales Excecutive to fulltime Stay at Home Father and House Husband.

Day one in my new househusbands role started really well.

Got up early, woke her up with a coffee in bed while I got the children dressed and ready for school.

Dropped the girls at school, dropped my wife at work and returned home to start first day of my new life.

I made myself another coffee, switched on my computer to read my emails and up popped my first reminder!

Went to turn on washing machine and noticed it was only half full.

Went to linen basket and found that was also half full.

Managed to squeeze the rest of the clothes into washing machine (just!) thinking "that will save powder and water" and went back to my coffee.

20 minutes later fuse blows and washing machine is smoking!

2 hours later and $150 lighter after paying washing machine repair man to fit new motor (old one burnt out because someone had overloaded the machine he said!) I then find out he's turned all my clothes blue!

My wife reckons it was my new jeans but I'm sure it was something the repair man had put in there to get me back for complaining about his prices!

Things can only get better.......
