In the beginning, there was...Maidstone

Maidstone is a town in the county of Kent, which is famed for being the 'Garden of England'. With a population of just over 75,000 it is one of the larger towns in Kent and it holds the county seat as a result. People have been coming to Maidstone to live, long before the town as we know it stood. Remains from the Neolithic era have been found in numerous quantities, as the early hunters were drawn to this idyllic, fertile river side region.Times have changed and long past are the days where going 'out for a meal', meant scouring the local forests for deer.

Maidstone Today...

type=textOver the last three hundred years Maidstone has grown at such at rate, that what were once small outlying villages are now considered part of this bustling town. The villages of Barming, Bearstead and Loose, still retain their individual character, whilst forming the suburbs and residential areas in the town. Perhaps one of the things that Maidstone is most famed for is its shopping. People flock from all around the country, to enjoy the wide range of shops on offer, from small independent antique shops, to large commercial giants like John Lewis. Diners are also spoilt for choice when visiting the town, as the bill of fare on offer varies extensively taking into consideration the many ethnic influences on the area. As with most English towns, Italian restaurants seem to be the perennial favorite, offering sumptuous spaghetti and perfect pizzas.
