What Are Hover Ads?

Hover ads are underlined links that appear on pages (like this one!) when certain "trigger words" appear.

They get their name because when you hover your mouse over the underlined words, an advert pops up - or hovers - on your screen.

Some people find them annoying, but that's the same with any form of advertising.

The point is, they work.

And the good news is that you can easily create your own hover ads.

Using Hover Ad Software

There are a number of options for creating hover ads on your web pages.

For instance, there are plugins for Wordpress that will offer this. But the ones I found were limited to a handful of services, such as Amazon, which are usually fairly low paying.

Other scripts often involve sharing your commission with the service running the ads, which cuts your potential income down.

Using a pre-built hover ad script gives you the freedom to serve up more profitbale ads.

This script runs on your own web host. You set it up from an easy to use control panel, type in your affiliate ID and search for products using the built-in search. You can be up an running in just a few minutes.

The joy of using this kind of script is that you can monetize pages unobtrusively. There are no glaring, in your face, adverts. Just a few simple extra hyperlinks that pop up an ad if the site visitor runs there mouse over that area of the screen.

Yet typically they make more money as you're advertising bigger commission products.

You can download your own copy of this simple to use hover ad software and run it on all your sites for a one-off fee.

Amazon Affiliate Hover Ads

One aspect that Amazon don't mention very much is that they let you produce hover ads by simply adding a small script to your page.

If you're an Amazon associate, go to the Product Links section and then select Product Previews to get the code. It takes a short time for their spider to work out the best links and then you've got context sensitive Amazon links on your page.
