How Can I Increase My Vertical Jump The Right Way?

Hey guys, just wanted to make a quick lens to talk about some of the important aspects that will help you answer the question, "How can I increase my vertical jump?" A lot of people, athletes in particular, have this question at some point during their athletic career. A great vertical jump is one of the most sought after feats of human strength and explosiveness, and I'm here to help you reach your high-flying goals!

Popular Vertical Jump Programs

Before reading on, you may want to look into a vertical jump program to help you increase your vertical jump!

3 Aspects Of A Great Vertical Jump Training Routine

There are a few things you need to work on in order to build explosive power that will shoot you through the roof. If you fail to include these three things in you quest for an amazing vertical jump, you will most likely fail to increase your ability....even worse, you may lose inches. Here is a short list of some things you really need to focus on in order to see success. I'll elaborate more on each one below.

- Weightlifting for strength
- Plymetric training for explosiveness
- Recovery

Weightlifting To Increase Vertical Jump

Weightlifting is a pivotal part of any strength training program. Whether you're a powerlifter, football player, or basketball player, any excess strength that you can gain will give you that edge you need to dominate the competition. With a gain in strength comes an increase in vertical jump ability.

Think of it this way, not lifting weights is like having a nice sports car (your body) with no engine (no muscle). What's the point in that? Exactly, nothing. So, if you want to answer the question, "How can i increase my vertical jump", you need to start by including some weight routines in your efforts to fly high.

Plyometrics And Building Explosiveness

Plyometrics, if you don't already know, are a set of exercises in which you use repetitive motions such as jumping to increase the ability of your body to put your strength to use. With lifting weights, you'll be building that engine in your sports car. With plyometrics, you'll be putting in a quick-shifting transmission that can put all that power to the floor. Be sure to include some sort of plyometric exercise routine in order to see the best results.

Recovery For Maximum Jumping Potential

Something that many people never realize when they workout is that the human body needs more rest than you might think in order to build muscle and strength. So far I've mentioned weightlifting and plyometric exercises. Recovery is what makes those two activities worth your while. Without adequate recovery time, you are robbing your body of it's opportunity to reach maximum potential.

Usually the best thing to do is to have workouts on 3 or 4 days out of the week. These workouts should have at least one day of rest in between them, and they should last no longer than one hour. This may not sound like a whole lot, but you will be amazed at what your body can do if you give it some time off. Most people see the best gains from their efforts after a break of about 5-7 days from working out.

How I gained 8 Inches In Two Months

I've been a basketball player for quite some time now and I've purchased a few vertical jump programs along the way. Some were decent, and some were awful. Up until last year I had very little success with putting any noticeable increase on my vertical. That finally changed when I found a program called The Vertical Jump Bible.

I mentioned that a good vertical jump program contains weightlifting, plyometrics, and adequate recovery time. Well this one has all three, plus the workout can be tailored to individual types of jumpers.

To make a long story short, I was able to put an extra 8 inches on my vertical in two months. This was pretty exciting for me since I had not been able to gain anything for almost two years. Programs like The Vertical Project are wayyy too expensive, and I found that Air Alert did not give me anywhere near the amount of rest that i needed.

So, if you're looking for something that is pretty much guaranteed to add inches to your vertical, I would highly recommend The Vertical Jump Bible.
