How Can I Make Money On the Internet

A little over two months ago I too found myself asking: "How can I make money on the Internet". I did some research and finally decided to become an affiliate marketeer. I already had a fulltime job, so I could only spend 2 hours a day on my 'internet business'.
I didn't really knew what to expect and I still had some doubts as I was getting started, but after only 4 days: my first sale, the day after that: another 2 sales! It felt like I just won the lottery. I was ecstatic!
My first month I made $800. My second month was good for $1900. This month is going to be even better, so last week I fired my boss!! Why work my pants of for someone else if I can work from home for myself and make money on the internet!
Do you want to know how I did it?

Does the term Affiliate Marketing ring a bell? Well if you do not have a product of your own, you can sell other people's products and they will pay you a commission for every sale you make. You do not have to sign a contract, buy products or pay for anything! Sounds great, doesn't it?

You can start your business right now and start making money in days!!

First, you will need to create FREE accounts for the following websites:

- Clickbank here you will find products to sell

- Paypal They will send you your cheques

- Squidoo lets you create free landingpages

- Ezine Articles free advertizing

- Goarticles free advertizing

- UsFreeAds free advertizing

Find a product at Clickbank Market place:

Make sure it pays more than $25 per sale and has a gravity between 50 and 250.
"What is gravity?" I see you wondering. Well, if a product has a gravity of 76, it means that 76 people have sold at least one item in the last month of that particular product!

Find some keywords to promote your product:

If you are selling a weight loss product one of your keywords (not necessarily one word) could be: "How to lose weight". Now, how do you know if you have picked a good keyword? Go to google and enter your keyword with quotation marks: "How to lose weight" and see how many search results it returns.
If it is less than 10.000 than you have found yourself a good keyword.
"How to lose weight" will return about 1.500.000 results, so you will need to narrow it down a little bit.
Eg. "how to lose weight without working out" : 263 results. Now that looks a lot better. I bet you could make it to the top of that page.

Tip: if you find a keyword with less than 10.000 search results AND there are some paid ads (those are the ones on the right side of the search result page), that means people are willing to pay for that keyword, so it must be getting good results (read: $)

Create a landingpage or a lens:

Go to squidoo.com and create a new lens. Put your keyword in the url (eg: www.squidoo.com/how-to-lose-weight-without-working-out)
For content inspiration, you can take a look at other peoples landingpages or the salespage for your product.
Squidoo provides you with some great tutorials on how to build a great lens!

Next fase:

You have a product, a keyword and a landingpage. If you want to make sales, you will need to get targeted traffic (= people who are interested in your product) to your landingpage. Your keyword has 263 websites competing you for the number one spot in the Google search results (which is where you want to be for maximum traffic to your site (lens)).

How to get more traffic:

If your website has more backlinks for your keyword than the other 263 competitors then you get the number one spot!
A backlink is a link from another site to your website. So try to get as many backlinks as possible to get maximum traffic!

How to get more backlinks:

You can upload articles to Article Directory sites like ezinearticles.com and goarticles.com and your ads to USFreeAds.com.

Articles:
Your articles should range anywhere from 300 to 500 words. For inspiration, look at what other people have written about your product or do some research on Google. Make sure you put a link to your squidoo lens in your article otherwise people won't be able to buy your product.
Make sure your keyword can be found in your article. Put it in your title and mention it 5 to 7 times for every hundred words you write.

Ads:
If writing 400 word articles isn't really your thing, you can put up free ads at usfreeads.com. Look at some of the ads that are already on there and then start creating your own. Don't forget to put your link to your lens in it!

It's time to put in work:

To really start earning money I suggest you start writing one article a day for 30 days.
In one month you'll have 30 articles! If you can do more, perfect!

Duplicate Content does not do your business any good. Google loves unique content, so that is the way to go if you want success. So keep a few rules in mind:
- don't just copy articles from other people ( But you can rewrite them in your OWN words)
-Post your articles/ads only once. If you post one articles on ten Article Directory sites, the same article will be out there ten times.

Be original and don't copy! Google will love you for that!

I bet you still have a lot of questions at this point! And that's normal. There is so much to learn, that it can be overwhelming. But don't panic! I have been there too.

Let me give you a tip. Find someone or a group of people who are doing the same thing as you are doing and then learn from them. This is not only true for affiliate marketing, but it can be used for nearly everything.
If you want to get good at something, find someone who already is good at it and ask him/her how he/she did it. That is what I did, and that is why I was able to fire my boss after only two months!

So where do you find a mentor? Maybe you know someone who is an affiliate marketeer. If you don't you can join a group of marketeers on the internet.

So far I have showed you the basics on how to make money on the internet for free. And this is a good way to start. But once the money starts coming in, you might want to consider PPC (Pay Per Click). This means you are going to pay Google for advertising on the side of the first page.

Why pay when you can do it for free?
It's faster! And since you won't have to spend time writing articles and ads you will get all the work done even faster!

"I have some money, should I start with PPC or articles?
Well, that is really up to you! But, keep in mind that you pay for every time someone clicks on your link! Even if they buy nothing! So, you will be paying for advertising from day one! When you make your first sales all depends on the work you put in!
If you decide to start PPC it is really important to know what you are doing, so I recommend you read some e-books on PPC. Or come to us at Wealthy Affiliates and we will gladly help you make some money!

When I did my business on the side of my day job, I worked two and a half hours a day tops. I wrote one article each day (weekend included) and 4 lenses each week.
Now, I create one lens and four articles each day. Sunday is my day off.
If you write that many articles there will be days that the words won't come as easy as they usually do. Some days it takes me six or seven hours to get my work done, other days I wrap it up in four hours.
Yes, I still write articles, but I do not put them on Article Directory sites anymore. I distribute them through a network of blogs to get even more traffic, but that is something you can consider when you are more experienced!
