    I was on the edge of a Hurricane in southern Florida (west coast) in 1964. Had to go to a shelter. Then Hurricane Floyd caused us to have a mandatory evacuation from Tybee Island, Georgia (outside Savannah) in 1999. Many people complained about the mandatory evacuation afterwards because Floyd never made land in our area, but after listening to a talk from the CEMA (our local Emergency Management Agency) about what 'could have happened' and the results of the aftermath, I would never refuse to listen to the orders of a 'Mandatory Evacuation'. Stuff can be replaced; people can't!
