In order to choose the right camera--one with the right set of features at the right price--you'll need to figure out what you'll be doing with it.
A good way to start is to buy yourself a book... about photography...I have only ever bought one and I have learn t so much from that one book . Not so commonsense things like the background of the photo you are taking ...how many times have you taken a great photo of your children or a group of people ...only to realize later that the old lady next door was sun baking in the nude in the background ..well an over the top example but you know what I'm talking about . Lighting is something else all together ...I have a trillion photos of my children with screwed up eyes and others with my shadow slashed across the bottom of them ...Why.... because I was all ways told you must have your back to the sun when your taking photos ...guess what..... not true .Let me tell you this right now with a little knowledge and a good camera you can turn your photos into dollars... It really is that easy ......Click Here!......and take a look at just one of the amazing money making ideas......Click Here!

Buying your camera ....... size does matter.

I own and use a Nikon camera .. I bought a little case to keep it in so I can have a camera with me at all times. The Nikon Coolpix is my favorite camera,it pretty much lives in my handbag ready to capture any thing that takes my fancy .I choose to carry this particular camera with me because it is so small and light .. I think it takes excellent pictures for such an affordable compact camera .Click Here!

Nikon

The Nikkon AF-S 50mm f/1.8G is an affordable prime lens for Nikon DSLRs. On FX bodies it delivers standard coverage, while on DX bodies it becomes equivalent to 75mm, ideal for flattering portraits. The f1.8 aperture gathers plenty of light, making it useful in dim conditions or for minimizing the depth of field, and it also enjoys the crucial advantage over the ageing 50mm f1.8D of auto focusing with any Nikon DSLR including the most affordable bodies. So the big question is how it compares against the pricier 50mm f1.4G version and whether it's worth spending the extra or saving some cash on this new more affordable model. Find out in our Nikon 50mm f1.8G lens review!

The Nikon V1 is unique in the growing market of mirror-less interchangeable lens cameras (ILCs). Rather than compete on sensor size and resolution, the Nikon 1 system is designed to be the fastest ILC to date, with decent bursts at 10fps with auto focus, or up to 60fps without. Suffice it to say there's also HD movies with tracking focus, but the V1 can also grab high res images at the same time, so you no longer need to choose between photos and video. This makes the Nikon 1 system not just ideal for action sports, but also perfect for parents with active kids. I tested the V1 alongside the cheaper J1 and a selection of rival ILCs over an extended period of six weeks and really got to understand each of their pros and cons

Upgrading your camera is always an exciting process, but deciding on one model from a potential shortlist can often prove difficult. This especially applies if you're investing in a higher-end body where buying the wrong model could prove to be a costly mistake.

True Colour
A Canon TruCapture camera ensures colour remains vibrant and faithful, just as you remember it. Challenging low light situations are no barrier. Skin tones, sunsets and landscapes will be portrayed accurately resulting in a quality image.

True Clarity
Action shots and moving subjects are captured in impressive clarity. Even in poor lighting a Canon TruCapture camera takes clear and detailed shots. Blurriness and fuzziness are eliminated ensuring clear sharp photos.

True to Life
Photos taken with a Canon TruCapture camera are so true to life it's like reliving your memories every time, with every photo. Each expression and experience is captured faithfully with accurate colour and clarity, preserving your precious memories so that your photos take you back instantly.
TruCapture

How it works...

Optical Image Stabilizer Lens
The lens in a Canon TruCapture camera will always be optically stabilized and manufactured to tolerances as fine as Canon's professional EOS lenses. This means that colour and detail will not be distorted, and that blur from hand held camera shake will be suppressed.

DiG!C 4 Image Processor
This is where the magic really happens. DiG!C 4 has been designed from the ground up to handle the rigours of high speed, high quality image capture. It is the brains of the camera, and seamlessly churns through millions of calculations to ensure that the camera responds appropriately to the scenes it has detected, and that photos are preserved with the clarity, colour and detail that can be expected from a premium brand digital camera.

High Sensitivity Sensor
The imaging sensor in a Canon TruCapture camera will always be a High Sensitivity Sensor. Regardless of whether CCD or CMOS technology is used, the imaging sensor will be capable of harnessing the rays of light efficiently and effectively, to give the image processor the best possible data from which to produce the final photo.

Waterproof Cameras

Sometimes, your regular camera just isn't going to cut it. For the adventurous Cousteau-types, there's a camera to suit you.
Surf , Snow or Underwater

Are you a water baby or a ski bunny? Most cameras on this list cover all the bases from waterproofing through to freeze-proofing, but you should double-check before you buy. Also make sure to clarify the maximum depth that you can reach with the camera underwater before heading out to scuba or snorkel.

Another thing to keep in mind is how big the camera controls are. When wearing ski gloves, you'll need a camera with sturdy and responsive buttons. There is also a "button-free" feature called action control (on the Nikon Coolpix AW100) or tap control (on some Olympus cameras) that lets you change shooting options without needing to remove your fingers from ski gloves. For slippery situations, a wrist strap is a must.

Photography ...Underwater

Of all the different types of photography showcased on Smashing Magazine, underwater photography is probably one of the most difficult to practice. It requires a very specialized equipment and the knowledge of some advanced techniques to get a perfect picture. You need to get the correct exposure, accurate focus, controlled movement of your subject and a pleasing color balance; you also have to deal with low light. Underwater photos often suffer from loss of color and contrast when taken at a significant depth. Such photos are always adjusted with color balance to help offset the blueish tint of the water.Best waterproof and tough cameras....Click Here!

underwater photography is a specialized art, relatively few photographers attempt it.

Pentax Cameras

More people than ever are moving on to their second digital camera and looking for something that lets them develop their hobby. Here are the best entry-level and beginner-friendly digital SLRs

The Pentax Optio RS1000 is a basic yet affordable pocket camera that combines the essentials of a high-ish resolution, HD video, large LCD and optical zoom, taking better snaps than expected given its low price the Pentax X90 is an easy-to-use super zoom that offers decent picture quality and plenty of features. It's good value for money too

You can't really appreciate the size of the Pentax Q until you have it in your hand. Pentax claims it's small enough to fit into your palm, but in truth you could put two there, side by side, and just about still see four fingers and thumb.

The Pentax K-x sits in the slot previously occupied by the company's K200D - one of the best-specified entry-level DSLRs on the market in its time - though that position has now been elevated by the arrival of a new breed of simplified models below it. In Pentax's line-up that means the K2000/K-m designed to entice compact camera users into DSLR ownership with its easy-to-use interface and diminutive scale, and it's that camera the K-x is immediately reminiscent of (they share the same body).

Samsung Cameras

The Samsung WB2000 digital camera is an interesting model to consider. It's a compact camera with manual features, but what stands out most is the retro-style dials atop the camera body, which indicate the status of the battery's charge and the SD card's capacity. It's something we haven't seen before in a camera's design and it gives the WB2000 a little charm.

Latest Review: Excellent camera, great for most occasions. After using a dslr, image quality will never compare. Cheap camera to buy, has good battery life, dual screen very useful for self portraits...and everyone around still gets amazed by it .

The only motion in your videos should be intentional not from shaky hands. Digital Image Stabilization automatically compensates for unwanted camcorder movement by realigning each electronic image, frame by frame, with beautifully steady results.

Kodak and the History of the Camera

The use of photographic film was pioneered by George Eastman, who started manufacturing paper film in 1885 before switching to celluloid in 1889. His first camera, which he called the "Kodak," was first offered for sale in 1888. It was a very simple box camera with a fixed-focus lens and single shutter speed, which along with its relatively low price appealed to the average consumer. The Kodak came pre-loaded with enough film for 100 exposures and needed to be sent back to the factory for processing and reloading when the roll was finished. By the end of the 19th century Eastman had expanded his lineup to several models including both box and folding cameras.
In 1900, Eastman took mass-market photography one step further with the Brownie, a simple and very inexpensive box camera that introduced the concept of the snapshot. The Brownie was extremely popular and various models remained on sale until the 1960s.

Kodak Cameras

Digital cameras differ from their analog predecessors primarily in that they do not use film, but capture and save photographs on digital memory cards or internal storage instead. Their low operating costs have relegated chemical cameras to niche markets. Digital cameras now include wireless communication capabilities (for example Wi-Fi or Bluetooth) to transfer, print or share photos, and are commonly found on mobile phones.

Olympus Cameras

DSLRs review
When a compact camera just doesn't satisfy it might be time to think big.

Olympus has long been a strong competitor in the photography marketplace.

Way back in 2002, Olympus' original E-1 camera was the first digital SLR to be constructed as a digital camera from the ground floor up, competing models from Canon, Nikon, Pentax having all been devised based on existing 35mm film camera bodies.

Konica-Minolta

The DiMAGE A1 is the successor to the 'DiMAGE 7' series of digital cameras. Minolta has chosen not to use the '7' name on this camera because they believe it to be such a leap forward in functionality and features. The A1 utilizes the same size CCD and 7x optical zoom lens as the DiMAGE 7(Hi/i) however it is now powered by a dedicated Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery, has a tilting LCD monitor, a grip sensor and most importantly image stabilization (called 'Anti Shake') thanks to a CCD which can move on x and y axis. This innovative approach to image stabilization means that you can use a normal lens system and put all the complexity of shake compensation within the camera body Click Here!

Chambers Island Qld

I really love this little Island and it is just a short drive from my home ...I used to bring my children here when they were small ,it was a quiet safe little haven to spend some time relaxing and have a swim ,we always took a fishing line or two along and nine times out of ten caught a feed for dinner.I now take my grandchildren to the Island when they visit ,but the fish for dinner are usually bought from the take away across the road and because my quiet little Island is now frequented by so many tourists .. finding a place to have a quiet swim or wet a line is almost out of the question some days .So if I am seeking solitude or wanting to photograph something in particular on my little Island I visit when it is not the tourist season.... it is still as beautiful as ever and still a great place to capture some interesting shots.....the combination of the beach and mangrove trees presents unlimited opportunity's for anyone with a camera.
