How to transfer photos and files from one broken laptop or PC to another

laptop or PC crashed

I want this to be as simple as possible for you to understand how easy it really process of file transferring from one computer to another is. I actually told my brother how to recover his photos and files over the phone. I cannot stress how easy it is.
I had 2 broken Laptops and 1 broken PC, for this example I am using my laptop to show you in pictures, I found the PC much easier to do.
First step is to take the back off of your Laptop, this should be relatively easy, however some laptops require you to go in from the keyboard, a bit trickier, but more fiddly than difficult.

locate the hard drive, this will be surrounded by a metal case. carefully remove all connecting wires and plugs.
When you are working with the Hard drive it is essential you do not touch the actual hard-drive as this can cause damage.

Now you are going to connect the SATA/IDE device you bought to your hard drive. Now with 3 different computers to deal with, I found 2 had the same set up and the computer had a different set-up, just look carefully around the hard drive and plug in the adapter connections to the ones that are the same fit/size, do this carefully. Do not force any of the connectors, I found it would slip in easy, so if you need to force it, you know it probably does not go there.

Once you have this power up your laptop you want to put your files, once fully opened up, connect the USB port on your PC, (as you can see in the picture I used a net book!
Switch on the connecting device (small button on the adapter leads) and watch as your files magically start their transfer to your new computer! leave it running a wee while, as I found it took a little bit longer for all my photos to appear, and even after thinking I had them all some just kept appearing. I had forgotten how many photos and files I did have. These laptops and computers had given up, but I had put them away as I knew these photos were on them and just did not know enough to recover my photos, and I am sure this would have been expensive getting someone to do this for me.

What do I need to transfer my data from one computer to another?

Keeping you computer in working order

take care and use the correct tools

I have learned many easy to avoid mistakes, that can cause serious damage,to your computer, and know how to avoid the "scan you computer now" scams, and then you end up with Trojan viruses. Even becoming familiar with these terms, will help keep you safe online and your computer safe too. I use the computer everyday for work, but I did not know how it worked. I have read many books, and found this one of the easiest to understand. Computers laptops are expensive, and sometimes become broken because we don't really know what we are doing and just click, unbeknown to us downloading phishing software, that can then keep track of all your movements on line and eventually crack into your on-line passwords, emails. just like a car, you don't just drive it, you need to fill it with petrol water, and oil, air for its tires, there are simple steps you can familiarize yourself with to make sure your computer ticks over, and lasts a lot longer.
