Copyright Free Images

A problem puzzling many people is how and where they can find good quality copyright free images for their blogs, hubs, lenses and websites. I have made this squidoo with four ways you can overcome this problem very easily. I hope this helps alot of people out, worried about if their photos/pictures are legal or not.

Stock Exchange

Hand in hand - http://www.sxc.hu/My absolute favourite website, it has 100,000s of photos available for free and best of all - they are all 100% copyright free! Remember to click on the picture and make it bigger before saving it as this gives you a higher quality image. Furthermore it is very nice and polite to post a little comment on the photo saying thanks and where you will be using the photo/picture. The number one site for copyright free images!

Flickr

Flickr is another awesome site, it hosts many more images than stock exchange and has a much wider range of photos and pictures available. However, unlike stock exchange, not all of the pictures are copyright free. To see if the picture has a copyright or not, hover over the thumbnail of the picture until you see a little "i", click on the "i". If it says "All rights reserved" or "Some rights reserved", the picture cannnot be used without asking the uploader. If it says"Some rights reserved", do some further research and see if it is possible to use the picture. If it says "No rights reserved" it is copyright free and yours to use, but remember, always nice to post a little comment.

Take Photos Yourself

I know this is pretty obvious but if there is a picture you cant find on either of the above sites, just take it yorself. Your images are only entitled to your own copyright, so its fine to use them. But of courses, taking a photo of someone elses picture/photo doesnt give you the copyright!

A few cheap cameras for you!

Buy Photos

If you really need the photo and none of the above could get you it, you could buy the photo. I would only do this if I absolutely definitely needed it. That said, photos and pictures can be bought very cheaply on sites like iStockphoto.
