How Am I Doing As An Angel - 2010?

For December 2010 I had wings, so I had to use them!
I made a plan and I started to look it over.

Note: The number of lenses are so big at this time and they are increasing as we speak, it is impossible to browse all of them, but there are other Angels as well and probably the overall outcome will be just right if somebody can collect all Angels work.

I tried to be objective but a dose of subjectivity was inevitable as human being. I apologize up front for my subjectivity, and I assure you of my good intentions.

I was looking after:

New lenses which are very good from the start, and Blessing them I hope I encourage the continuation of a good work
Old lenses of an exceptional value
Truly unique lenses
Innovations and experiments. I am a true believer in experiments, without them and pioneer work we don't make progress. It is a pain that not all experiments are 100% successful, but this is OK, with each experiment we make a step forward, so exists a learning value regardless the finish line
Very good technical lenses

I didn't want to give you just a list, I created a classification which made sens in my eyes and tried to put each lens I Bless in an appropriate place. I knew that some how you will discover a part of my soul, but I took the challenge and looked forward.

This angeling happened in 2010 - and now this is just a resource of good lens at that time. If you look carefully you will find a lot of remarkable lenses

Being an Angel in December

Being an Angel is a honor, but being an Angel in December is really sweet and challenging for different reasons:

Practical: with shopping, decorating, other Christmas and New year preparations, you have less time then usual, but I get my presents on-line on Squidoo
Sentimental: parties, paying attention to family and friends, trying your best in all you do, again you have less time
Professional: you strive to do quality work, you really don't want to disappoint people at Christmas time,

So, IT IS CHALLENGING.

Being and Angel is also rewarding.
I had a break on Squidoo as I worked in more then one niche. On Internet Marketing we had so many events starting with FTC new rules, ending with Google Caffeine, and December's crazy firesales.
I entered on a new niche 'Mobile Marketing" without to give up the old Affiliate Marketing, Blogging, writing.
I got myself in a crises, and I had to implement "one, max two projects at a time", no exceptions.

So after a big break, Squidoo has offered me a great deal of surprises: new modules, new people, even new policies regarding advertising.
It has been:
A joy to discover new talented lensmasters, and new lenses
A great experience to find out the technical improvements on lens presentation
A big surprise to see a lot of new young people on board, with a spectacular success from the start
A sweet discover that even after Caffeine, Google still "love Squidoo"
A great unique occasion to make more Squidoo friends and improving my level as a lensmaster

With all hard work, the give and take process of being an Angel, produces for me a lot of learning, new Squidoo friends, a quick catch up with events and progress, so I really enjoy my sojourn as an Angel which will go to an end in a couple of days.

So to conclude my angeling sojourn - it really was a lot of fun, a great pleasure to help and show the incredible value of inspiring lenses, and talented lensmasters. I didn't mind to put some effort for a good cause, if I had some accomplishments it was because of you - my readers.

Since Ronald Regan, nobody encourage patriotism so I collect a couple of lenses which can be patriotism per SE, or related.
We have more and make sense to me to have a special category for them and proudly visualize them.

What Is So Special About Angeling

The entire scheme is part of Squidoo being and Open Source Platform where people:

contribute
have a voice, opinions,
they are helping with generosity, great skills and devotion
they are allowed to be humans with stories, problems, accomplishments, ideas
their talents and knowledge are recognized
they are part of a community of choice
they benefit from an endless learning environment
they are free to express themselves
Being an Angel is a little tool to express goodness, provide recognition, but also keep the community clean and safe.

Angels are proud people with Squidoo accomplishments, hard working, and volunteers for a great cause.

What Makes A Good Lens!

I was asked what makes a good lens!
Oh Boy! It is not easy to get a perfect answer, whatever I say... it has a subjective nuance attached to it. But I am known as a straight shouter, so I try to answer.

When you like a good book... so much that you cannot drop it from your hands!

When you need help and a friend stands by you!

When somebody makes you feel good, smiling at you and holding your hand!

When you have a perfect intuition of a fact or situation!

When you learn and you are proud of your accomplishments!

So, in a nut shell...

When you read a lens which is:

Unique ---------> Useful ---------> Up-to-date...

as Seth Godin uses to say... it is that simple!

So for me a good lens is when:
* I am learning something, it is informational even when is not a resource lens
* Solve a little problem for me, through learning process
* It is unique, at list, in his presentation
* Contains the latest facts about the subject
* I am an Internet Marketer, I understand the desire to sell, but the lens
******* must have enough info,
******* must talk directly with me,
******* must give me a reason to buy
* Somehow the lens must make me comfortable, builds trust, sets up bridges
* Must communicate value in an appealing way
* Presentation must be great ... this is the first sign of our respect for the reader, and the first step to make him comfortable
* Must follow the TOS, no exceptions

In summary -
1) if you write a lens with the readers in mind this will prompt you to a great result from the start.
2) After you write a lens, put yourself in a reader shoes, and ask "What is in it for me as a reader?" If you don't have an answer... you don't have a lens!
