Episode Guide
How I Met Your Mother (or HIMYM) is an American situation comedy created by Craig Thomas and Carter Bays for CBS Broadcasting. The show is based around the main character, Ted Mosby, telling his son and daughter about the events that led to his meeting their mother. How I Met Your Mother's other main characters are Marshall Eriksen, Robin Scherbatsky, Barney Stinson, and Lily Aldrin. Thomas and Bays drew from their friendship in creating the characters, with Ted based loosely on Bays and Marshall and Lily based loosely on Thomas and his wife. (read more)

- Ted meets Robin and Marshall and Lily get engaged. Ted tells Robin he loves her on their first date and blows it.
- 102 Purple Giraffe
- Ted throws three parties so he can "casually" interact with Robin, but they end up just friends. Barney looks for a girl at the party that doesn't know anyone.
- 103 Sweet Taste of Liberty
- Ted and Barney end up flying to Philadelphia after using one of Barney's techniques of picking up women. While in Philly, the two end up doing something legendary.
- 104 Return of the Shirt
- Ted tries to find love in a past relationship but is reminded why he broke it off in the first place.
- 105 Okay Awesome
- Ted and Barney go to a club to pick up women, while Lily and Marshall, in an attempt to be grown-ups, host a dinner party at the apartment for a group of couples.
- 106 Slutty Pumpkin
- Ted waits around at a Halloween rooftop party at his apartment building for a girl dressed as a slutty pumpkin, whom he met at the same party years before.
- 107 Matchmaker
- Ted goes to a matchmaker who guarantees that her computer can find a person's soul mate in three days, and the computer reports no matches to Ted's profile except women who have already been matched.
- 108 The Duel
- Ted and Marshall contend who gets the apartment when Marshall and Lily get married. They end up in a sword fight, and one character has to go to the hospital.
- 109 Belly Full of Turkey
- It's Thanksgiving, and Lily goes to meet Marshall's family of giants while wondering if she is pregnant. Robin and Ted decide to spend Thanksgiving volunteering at a soup kitchen, and get a big surprise when they arrive.
- 110 The Pineapple Incident
- Barney, Marshall, and Lily get Ted to take shots. The next day, he wakes up with no memory of that night's events, an unknown woman (Danica McKellar) in his bed, and a pineapple on his nightstand.
- 111 The Limo
- They spend New Year in a limo Ted rented trying to hit up five big parties and ring in the New Year at the best one.
- 112 The Wedding
- Ted almost breaks up a friend's wedding while trying to get Robin invited as a date.
- 113 Drumroll, Please
- Ted meets Victoria at the wedding. But when he wants to see her again, he doesn't know how he can find her. Marshall obsesses over the cake.
- 114 Zip, Zip, Zip
- Ted and Victoria have been dating for a month, Marshall and Lily are going to a bed and breakfast for their 9th anniversary, Barney and Robin become Bros.
- 115 Game Night
- After winning several game nights in a row, Marshall invents "Marshgammon," but game night gets sidetracked when a tape of Barney when he was just out of college shows us a side of Barney that we never knew.
- 116 Cupcake
- Victoria finds out she got into an internship program in Germany. She and Ted contemplate a long-distance relationship.
- 117 Life Among the Gorillas
- Marshall takes a job at Barney's company and tries to fit in with the unclassy natives.
- 118 Nothing Good Happens After 2 A.M.
- Robin invites Ted over to her place after a long night of work. Should he go?
- 119 Mary the Paralegal
- To fix Ted's jealousy over Robin, Barney sets him up with a date for an awards banquet... a date with an interesting profession.
- 120 Best Prom Ever
- Lily and Robin go to a high school prom to listen to a band that Marshall picked out for their wedding.
- 121 Milk
- The matchmaking service from episode 7 finally matches Ted to his dream girl, but Ted realizes that Robin is the one for him. Lily secretly has an interview for an art fellowship in San Francisco. Barney has a feud with an office worker across the street.
- 122 Come On
- Ted tries a rain dance in the hope that rain will keep Robin from going on a camping trip with Sandy Rivers. Lily is accepted at her internship and Marshall finds out...
Season 3
- 301 Wait for It
- When Robin shows up with a new boyfriend, Ted decides he is ready to hit the town with Barney. Enrique Iglesias guest stars as Gael, Robin's new lover and Mandy Moore guest stars as Amy, a tattooed party girl Ted hooks up with while out on the town. Marshall also calls Barney and shows him he has 55 days until his next slap.
- 302 We're Not From Here
- After seeing girls get weak in the knees over Robin's boyfriend Gael being from Argentina, Barney and Ted decide to pose as out-of-towners in order to meet chicks.
- 303 Third Wheel
- Ted bumps into Trudy (the girl who snuck out Ted's bedroom window in "The Pineapple Incident"). While on a date with her, her sorority sister Rachel shows up and acts very interested in Ted.
- 304 Little Boys
- When "kid-unfriendly" Robin surprisingly forms a bond with the young son of the guy she is dating, she decides it is too serious and must figure out a way to let the little guy down.
- 305 How I Met Everyone Else
- When Ted's new girl becomes jealous because the story of how he and his pals met is better than the story of how she and Ted met, her ranking on Barney's "crazy scale" skyrockets.
- 306 I'm Not That Guy
- When a corporate law firm courts Marshall, lawyer Jeff Coatsworth wins him over, forcing him to let go of his dream of saving the earth in favor of the almighty dollar. Guest star John Cho.
- 307 Dowisetrepla
- When Lily and Marshall decide to buy an apartment, not only do they make every mistake in the book, but Marshall also discovers Lily's dirty little financial secret when they apply for a loan.
- 308 Spoiler Alert
- Ted finds what he thinks is the perfect woman, but his friends all find a flaw. In doing so, however, they reveal their own shortcomings.
- 309 Slapsgiving
- As Lily and Marshall host their first Thanksgiving as a married couple, Barney is tortured by the tick-tock of the Slap Bet countdown clock and the certainty of the exact moment the slap is going to be delivered. Meanwhile, Ted and Robin try to settle their feelings for each other when she brings an older suitor to Thanksgiving with her.
- 310 The Yips
- After everyone joins a gym, Barney sees his "first" there and loses his ability to approach women upon learning that his performance with her, which began his streak of sexual conquest and confidence, was poor. After his attempts at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show party go awry, Barney feels he needs a rematch.
- 311 The Platinum Rule
- Ted asks his doctor on a date and his friends try to discourage him from going out with someone he sees regularly recalling their own horror stories of bad experiences.
- 312 No Tomorrow
- Ted and Barney go out in the town to celebrate St. Patrick's Day as if the world was going to end the next day. They start out with two girls, whom they ditch to get into a club full of women. It seems that for every bad deed they do, something good happens. Marshall discovers their apartment is crooked when they spend their first evening in the new apartment.
- 313 Ten Sessions
- Ted goes to see a dermatologist (Special Guest Star Sarah Chalke) to have the butterfly tattoo he got earlier in the season removed. While there, he falls for the dermatologist, while her receptionist, Abby (Special Guest Star Britney Spears), falls for him.
- 314 The Bracket
- (a.k.a. The Final Four) When Barney's love life is sabotaged by a mystery woman, he turns to tournament bracketology to narrow down the field of 64 women with the most cause to hate his guts. Instead of pitting the women against each other, he has the gang decide which women of the 2 presented would hate him more.
- 315 The Chain of Screaming
- When Marshall is verbally berated by his boss, he questions whether the decision to work for a big law firm was the best career move. (Guest Star Bob Odenkirk as Marshall's boss)
- 316 Sandcastles In The Sand
- An old flame of Robin's from another of her teenage pop videos comes to town (Special Guest Star James Van Der Beek), leading to a rekindling of their former romance, and Barney being thrown into a frenzy to find the second video in question, which also features Alan Thicke and Tiffany. Ted, Lily, and Marshall ponder their former personalities being brought back in the presence of old friends.
- 317 The Goat
- When a guilt-ridden Barney breaks the "Bro Code," he struggles with the ramifications of his mis-step and at the end, Barney hasn't just broken the "Bro Code," he has ruined his friendship with Ted. Meanwhile, Lily decides to rescue a goat while the gang plans Ted's surprise party.
- 318 Rebound Bro
- When Ted tells the gang Stella's (guest star Sarah Chalke) intimate secret, he must face the consequences of breaking her trust. Will Forte guest stars.
- 319 Everything Must Go
- Barney and Abby (guest star Britney Spears) realize that they have one thing in common, their mutual hatred of Ted. The new 'couple' decides to go to the bar to flaunt their new relationship in Ted's face. Desperate to get a rise out of his former pal, Barney pops a surprising question to Abby.
- 320 Miracles
- When Ted is in an accident, he re-evaluates his life and relationship with Stella (guest star Sarah Chalke).
Debate: "Stella" is the 'Mother' on "HIMYM"?
Is "Stella" the 'mother' in question in the title of the CBS sitcom "How I Met Your Mother"? That's the question that's heating up internet forums right now, and I'm sure the producers are pleased by the mixed reaction to the idea that "Stella" played by Sarah Chalke ("Scrubs", "Rosanne") could be "the one". I'm a big Sarah Chalke fan. So I'd love it if she was the mother.

Yes, in the episode, "Wait for it.." it is revealed that the meeting of the mother will have something to do with a yellow umbrella. Ted is holding a yellow umbrella when he runs into Stella near the end of Season 4. look it up

If Stella's kid were 8 in 2008 and living with her, why would she need to know how she met her mother?
Also, she's not in the picture with Robin 'cuz that was probably made in 2020. About 10 years before the show's future started, which was 2030.
So at that time, she would be already 20.
She'd be out of the house, and the other kids wouldn't even draw her in the picture >:)

Acctualy, Stella WAS out on st. patty's day. Watch the episode "Ten Sessions". She says "I have been out once the last year.. st. patty's day.. It was awful, I left early".
Sarah Chalke is not appearing in the next season of Scrubs because she is busy with himym.
But I don't think Stella is the mother. (I hope Victoria is, but that's a far too long shot)
