How I Try to Stop My Urges to Smoke

Ranked #161,942 in Healthy Living, #1,614,261 overall

Once smoking had become part of your system, it's really tough at times to stop such habit. You may even be surprised that at times, you will find yourself doing almost anything and sacrificing some important things just to get that smoke filling your lungs and seeing smoke come out of your mouth. It just has become an addiction that you yourself cannot control. I have even tried electronic cigarettes but its still tough to quit.

If you are a smoker at your twenties, single, and is currently working as an employee, most often than not, you'll be lighting up a cigarette whenever you want or feel the need for it. It's not really difficult even though you're working four hours straight because you know you'll be smoking at your break time. If you are lucky, you may even be given quick in-between 15-minute breaks that you could simply spend smoking a cigarette or two.

However, if you are a smoker at your forties, married, and still work as an employee, there will be a time when you will just have to stop your urge to smoke simply because you need to. Minimum wage earners here in our country will be needing to stop their urges occasionally because of the small pay that may not even be enough to feed their families alone.
It's also tough for me to stop my smoking urges but I do find keeping myself busy from other things an effective way to do this. I'm a freelancer working at home, which means I'm my own boss and I have break times whenever I want, so I could simply light up a cigarette if I feel the need to. But at times, I also need to stop my urges because we need to budget our monthly income properly, so I limit myself to a certain number of sticks per day. Sometimes, if I feel the urge to smoke while working, I play games installed on my computer, or I watch a few videos on Youtube instead, to keep me busy, and I tend to delay or forget at a certain period that I wanted to smoke a cigarette.
