How is Lasik Surgery Performed - What Happens First
When you first arrive at the office, and are escorted to the operation room. You will be asked to lay down on the table, which is actually a quite comfortable auto reclining chair. Prior to getting to the room, you will be given something to help you relax, and be given the run down of what to expect during and after the surgery. The doctor will start lubricating your eyes, with moisturizing eye drops. He will then shield one of your eyes, and secure the other eye open, all the while, he continues the liquid to keep your eyes moist.
Next he will mark your eye, on both sides, these marks will be a guide to follow when he cuts the cornea flap.

How is Lasik Surgery Performed - What's Next?
Once the cornea flap has been cut, and opened. The doctor, will place some gauze around your eye, because you eye, like the rest of your body when cut will bleed a little bit. Nothing to worry about. He will also continue with putting the moisture liquid on your eye, keeping it from drying out.He will then place some lubricant on your eye, to assist the laser. Now it's time for the laser to do it's job. The laser has been calibrated for each eye. So you will be asked to look at a blinking light, usually red or orange, mine was orange. While the laser reshapes the cornea.
This process while it seems minutes long, will only last around 15 - 20 seconds, just relax, deep breathing and it will be done before you know it. This does not hurt at all, it is just weird because this is being done while you are awake, which is why it is important to take deep relaxing breaths. Don't worry if your eye moves just a little bit, the lasers are designed to follow your eye movement.

How is Lasik Surgery Performed - The Final Steps
We are now wrapping up our answer to, how is lasik surgery performed.Once the laser has completed it's job. The doctor will close the cornea flap, and place a little antibiotic medicine on it to help keep any infection out and help it heal over the next week or two.
Once both eyes have been operated on, you will be sat up. The really cool thing at this point is that you will realize you can already see better. Your vision is blurry, your eyes itch a little, and might even burn a little, but you can already see across the room.
Now you will be escorted to a fairly dark room, because you eyes will be sensitive to light for a few days, maybe even a week. Your doctor will give you post op instructions to help your eyes recover and will then set up your one day, one week, and one month appointments to return and make sure your eyes are healing properly.
