How Much Is Laser Tattoo Removal? - The Process

Laser tattoo removal is a very simple process...simple but very painful and expensive!
What happens when you get in the chair is that a laser is aimed at your tattoo and short bursts from the high-intensity laser go through the pigments of your skin (depending on the colour there may be need for using different lasers).
The surgery is very precise and targets the tattoo pigment whilst avoiding any surrounding tissue from any damage that can occur from coming in contact with the laser. Depending on the laser that is used the estimated time for the tattoo is 10 to 30 minutes (you have to go through multiple sessions depending on the size of your tattoo).
Treatments are spread in sessions which can be weeks or even months which can make the process expensive.
Of course after the treatment an ice pack will be applied and you will be given after care cream to apply to your area until the next session.

How Much Is Laser Tattoo Removal? - Does It Hurt?

I'm not going to lie to you, the pain of getting rid of the tattoo is going to be a lot more than it was when getting it done. Thankfully anesthesia is applied to you (the patient) 30 - 90 minutes before the surgery begins to make the pain a little more bearable.
People who have gone through this procedure before have said that the pain is similar to that of pouring hot oil onto the skin.
It will all depend on the type of pain threshold you have. Remember when you were getting your first tattoo done and people said it would hurt but didn't? You have a higher threshold for pain which means that you may find this a little less painful but regardless of how high your threshold is the pain of getting rid of the tattoo is going to be a lot more than it was when getting it done.
How Much Is Laser Tattoo Removal? - The Side Effects
Yes there are risks and side effects that come into the equation when you are going through surgery. This procedure will normally not be covered by your insurance (unless it is specifically for medical reasons) but thanks to the new technology it is becoming safer to use.
Side effects
Still there are chances of side-effects if not looked after properly and there are just side-effects that will occur regardless after the treatment.
- Infection if not treated properly after
- Hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation where the skin is lighter or darker than the surrounding areas due to the process
- Scarring
- Texture change
How Much Is Laser Tattoo Removal? - The Cost...
Now onto the main question...how much is laser tattoo removal?
Of course I can't give you an exact figure but there are factors that will contribute towards the overall price...
- The size of your tattoo
- Your pain threshold (if it's low you may have to go through many small sessions)
- How many sessions you need
- Whether your tattoo is new or not
Some places will charge you by how long you're in the chair and some will just by session so make sure you ask first!
How Much Is Laser Tattoo Removal? - Chemical Methods

If you have the money to splash on laser surgery then go ahead but if you don't want to burn a hole through you wallet and through your skin then you can go through some chemical methods that will help on how to remove tattoos at home.
Chemicals
You can use chemicals that you apply to your skin and this scabs and peels away thus leading to the ink coming off the skin too. This soon heals over removing the tattoo. You will have to go through sessions of this over time to remove a full tattoo depending on the size of it. The price of these are still expensive and as they are medical they can lead to side-effects and reactions so make sure you consult your doctor before!
Removal Creams
You can use removal creams which I haven't used personally due to the bad feedback of some but there have been some that have been known to work. The only problem with these creams is that they are insanely expensive with 2 months worth costing over $100 and having to apply for months on end. Once again you may experience reactions to this so make sure you consult your doctor!
Chemical Peel and Removal Cream
How Much Is Laser Tattoo Removal? - Natural Methods
