Easy ways to add Curb Appeal!
It's no secret that selling your house can be a daunting task that may include a lot of headache before you've left the closing table. One of the best ways to increase your homes value efficiently and inexpensively is curb appeal. After all, you've got to get buyers interested in the outside of the house before they'll even want to come inside right? Well I'd like to give you a few simple tips to keep in mind that will help you add curb appeal to your home.
The first tip I find that is highly overlooked is the cleanliness of the property. Sounds pretty simple huh? And it is, but often times the clutter of shrubs, dying grass, and grime on the exterior really bring the appearance down. With that being said, the first step to adding curb appeal to your home is to trim the bushes, mow the lawn, and pressure wash the homes exterior. A pressure washer can be rented for an afternoon at a local construction supply store for around $50 and will have an invaluable outcome for the curb appeal of your home. You will be amazed at how dirty your brick, siding, or stucco can get after the winter or heavy rain season.
Cutting the grass and trimming the bushes may sound like a general maintenance item, but in the chaos of listing your home, it may often become overlooked. Now, if you are saying, "I don't have any grass or bushes to trim," that's the next step. Grass seed is very cheap and many shrubs can be purchased from a local nursery quite inexpensively and will bring a greater return on your investment. A few hours of sweat and labor can pay great dividends when it comes time to bring a potential buyer over to tour the home.
The second largest overlooked item I notice is the lack of curb appeal, in a homey respect. What do I mean by this? When families are looking for a new home to raise a family, the yard is often an area they will make many memories. Help them envision what they can make it by fertilizing and watering your grass regularly so it stays rich and green. If you have kids of your own, a hanging porch swing or outdoor recreation area is a great selling point for potential buyers. After all, the purchase of a house is probably the biggest investment most people make in their lifetime.
So, those are just a few tips to add curb appeal to your home. They might sound ridiculously simple and common sense, and they are! But, with the hustle and bustle of trying to sell your house many things go overlooked. Even if you aren't in the market to sell your house, having an attractive outside appearance will make your neighbors envious and will ask you, "What is your secret to adding all that curb appeal?"
