How to be smart with money? What is financial instruction and why don't we learn all this from elementary school?
That is a very good question! I think 'How to Be Smart with Money' should be a mandatory subject in all schools from the first grade until college! It is shameful how we learn about so many things and we have so many subjects in school and college and we are completely clueless about the most important thing in our financial lives! Our own money!
People who have financial instruction are usually rich people! Why then most of us don't have a clue about money?

When I was in my 20s I came across Robert Kiyosaki's books and I was fascinated!
Ever since I started 'working hard' for my money, paying my bills on time and being a 'responsible citizen' I knew deep in my gut that something was very, very wrong! It didn't 'feel right' or natural for me to get up every morning, 5 days a week and drag myself to 'work' and be there for 8 hours of beautiful, precious, sunny days, until it was time to go home and the next day do it all over again!
(No wonder I never lasted in any job more than 3 years...)

And I could stay here the whole day telling you all the 'reasons' why working hard for the money day in and day out for the rest of my life (or at least until I am 65 years old!) is the only way to pay all the bills, pay taxes and be a responsible parent and citizen.

I knew deep in my heart that I was right in feeling this way because there had to be something better out there than this!
But the problem was I seemed to be the only person in the world thinking like that, since no one agreed with me!
I was desperate!
One day after work, I decided to go to my local bookstore and browse some books, maybe have a nice cup of coffee and relax a little before going back home, taking a shower, eating, going to bed and starting everything all over again the next day!
That's when I saw this unique looking purple book with a very intriguing title (good job on your titles Mr. Kiyosaki!) "Rich Dad Poor Dad - What the Rich Teach their Kids about Money..."
I grabbed this fascinating book, sat down and started reading.....
I almost fell out of my chair!
I just couldn't believe there were people not only thinking what I was thinking but actually writing about it! And best of all, getting very, very rich because of it!!
Needless to say I bought all his books, which at the time were only about 2 or 3, and went home!
I spent the whole night awake reading his books and feeling a pleasant 'tingling' sensation all over my body, like a reassurance that I was on the right path now!

Nobody taught them! The school didn't teach us, our parents didn't teach us, there were very few books on the subject and everyone thought the same! 'Go to school, get good grades, go to a good college, get a degree, find a great job with lots of benefits, pay your bills and taxes, work for 35 years, retire and enjoy your life!'

I wanted to enjoy my life while I was still young!

Hundreds of questions started burning in my mind! 'Should I quit my job?" 'What should I do?" 'Should I go back to college and get a business degree?' 'Should I wait a little bit longer to start?' 'Is this the right time?' 'What if I can't make money?' 'How am I going to pay my bills?' 'What do I tell my husband?' 'What if it doesn't work?' 'Am I nuts?' 'Am I being realistic here?' 'What do I want?'
I realized then that what stops people 'dead on their tracks' and 'kills' all their dreams of a better life and financial freedom was one of our basic survival emotions.... Fear!!
We were afraid! We were actually terrified! It is very natural for us humans to be afraid of what we don't know..... To take risks..... To 'plunge' into the abyss of a new territory.....
