How To Be You And Remarkable, Too - On Squidoo.
Go ahead - fill in your bio blurb right away.
Would you like it if others read your stuff, or even write about YOU? If you are (or become) a remarkable person, people will notice YOU.
Let's have a look at some remarkable online personalities and see if we can learn something about "how to be you - on Squidoo."
The Definiton Of "Remarkable" -
Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary: worthy of being or likely to be noticed especially as being uncommon or extraordinary.
Seth Godin: "Remarkable doesn't mean remarkable to you. It means remarkable to me. Am I going to make a remark about it? If not, then you're average, and average is for losers."
Read the full post on Seth's blog: Now.
Why Do I Need To Be Remarkable?
Because the alternative is: boring.
Whether you develop Squidoo lenses, write blog posts, or create web pages of any other kind, you usually do it because you want people to see your stuff. You want to be found and talked about. That's why you need to be remarkable.Nobody can tell you how to be you - except for yourself. That's good news. You already are unique and different from everyone else.
To begin with, introduce yourself with your picture. Cartoons may be cute, and symbols could be meaningful, but most people prefer to connect on a personal level. I know that I can relate to your content much better if I have a visual concept of you.
If you prefer to have an abstract avatar (profile picture), make a SquidWho lens and a lensography and show us who you really are. We love that and it helps you to get recognized in the community. Personality is everything and a cartoon character is, well - a cartoon without much character.
Next, know your passion and expertise - and package it remarkably well.
Seth Godin shows the top of his bald head. That's brilliant. He's all about ideas - naked, fresh, unconventional ideas.
I might show myself with a weenie in my mouth. I'm a ham. I can't hold a candle to Seth's intellectual brilliance, but I can hold a weenie. In my mouth. It makes people smile - and that's always good.
What I'm trying to say is - present yourself! Boldly, funny, hip, funky, fashionably, musically, artfully, ridiculously, scholarly - whatever describes you best. Bring it out, show it clearly, design your public image around it.
A warning, though: don't try to create an image that is not really you. It will crumble, backfire, and turn people off.

You-Nique Ways To Present You-rself
Tips to improve your online presence...
Visitors to your lens enjoy pictures - by you, about you, small, big, many. You may upload your photos to one of the free online storage sites like photobucket or picasaweb, and then place the appropriate code into your lens modules. Here's a fine tutorial for this process.

Videos. Videos. Videos!
The YouTube module makes it easy to show off your handsomeness (doesn't work in my case, though) and your special talents. You could tell a joke, read a poem you wrote, or just chat about yourself for a couple of minutes. Record it directly into your webcam and upload it to YouTube. Here are some instructions on how to do this.
Blog. Blog. Blogging!
Blogging is free, fun (addictive?) and effective. You can express yourself freely and attract attention to your personality. You can even support your Squidoo lenses by linking to them from your blog. Promote your blog on your lenses, and vice versa. Get the word out - about you.
