How I Became A Work At Home Mom
About five years ago I was a Career Evaluator telling someone that I did not think work at home jobs would ever produce steady income that a family needs. We did find her a few jobs to do online to make extra income but her income then was really not enough to pay all the bills.
A year later I found my self staying home after my third child was born. With three kids not in school yet my job did not pay enough to pay three kids in daycare and gas to go to work. After doing the math I discovered that I would be paying $50 out of my husband's income to go to work.
So I decided to stay home, my first thought was to become a medical transcriptionist from home. I was a fast typer and had medical terminology training so I thought it would be a good fit for me. After almost completing the program and actually working a little I discovered that I was not really cut out for that profession. Not that it was not a good job if you was lucky enough to get a job in the field but I am a little hard of hearing. I knew this before but it never effected my work till I was trying to hear fast talking doctors on tape.

While I was still writing at home for how to websites I did other work at home jobs too such as assembly, phone service operator and virtual assistant. While I was able to do these jobs and make a good income they did not free me from being attached to a employer, which I so badly wanted.

When I first started to work at home I did it so I did not have to pay daycare and I would get to spend more time with my kids. However as my income became more important to my families well being I ended up sending my youngest to preschool a few time a week while my oldest two was in school, so I would have more time to work. So while I was not able to be with them all the time, I was able to prioritize my work a little better then when I was working a 9 to 5. I am thankful that working from home has allowed me to always be able to take them to school and pick them up. I also love that I get to go to more school activities for them now that I do not have to answer to a time clock.
While working from home in it self is a dream come true for some, its not always just how one might of dreamed it. Because I did not have to worry to much on how I dressed or waste time commuting I did save time, but all in all working in a office and working from home you still have to prioritize things in your life and at work.
